Faculty of Usuluddin holds Seerah (PBUH) Seminar and Exhibition 

Islamabad, November 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):Faculty of Usuluddin, Islamic Studies (Female), International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized Seerah (PBUH) seminar and Exhibition to commemorate the Week of Rehmatullilalamin at the female campus of International Islamic University Islamabad. All the six departments; Tafsir and Uloom-al-Quran, Hadith and its Sciences, Dawah and Islamic Culture, Seerah and Islamic History, Aqeedahb and Philosophy and Comparative Religion set up a spectacular display of various aspects of Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad. On the occasion Dr. Mukhtar appreciated the efforts of students to put on view the glorious attributes and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in dealing with less privileged factions of the society such as women, children, prisoners, and non- Muslims.

Addressing the seminar participants, Dr. Mukhtar emphasized the need for excellence in higher education and teachers’ role during teaching and mentoring the youth of Pakistan. He added that it’s time to locate the causes of Muslims’ downfall of Muslim Ummah, he urged that a National Treaty of Education must be developed to bring forth excellence, stability, and to move forward for the rise of Muslim Ummah. He further said that education, health, and social development are the areas which shouldn’t be the interplay of momentary political state policies.

Ex- Advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Law, Human Rights and economic Affairs, Barrister Zafarullah Khan also spoke in the seminar, in his address Barrister Zafarullah Khan highlighted the diverse role of women by keeping the glorified examples from the lives of wives and daughters of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as model. He added that women should play an active role in shaping the educational, social, and political fabric of the society following the footsteps of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

On this occasion, Dr. Samina Malik, Vice President (Female Campus) IIUI applauded the efforts of Faculty of Usuluddin and emphasized to hold such events in all the departments at campus. She said that love of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and following him are the mandatory injunctions of Islam. Dr. Taj Afsar Deputy Dean Faculty of Usuluddin mentioned the different instances from the life of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) that endured an epitome of morality for all ages and for all humanity.

The In-charge Faculty of Usuluddin, Dr. Ayesha Qurratulain also shared her views during her address and highlighted about the faculty’s academics as well as co-curricular cultural activities of students. On this occasion Dr. Ayesha acknowledged the vibrant students and faculty members for their hard work for achieving the highest QS ranked university in the world. Dr. Taimia Sabiha, Focal Person of the Students’ Activities in the faculty acknowledged all the participants including guests, HoDs, Students Advisor, faculty members and all the students who participated enthusiastically in the event.

GCU confers Lifetime Achievement Award on Distinguished Alumni 

Lahore, November 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):Eminent lawyer Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, leading nuclear scientist Dr Samar Mubarikmand and other distinguished alumni on Sunday were awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Awards by their alma mater i.e. Government College University Lahore. The distinguished Old Ravians including Akhuwat founder Dr Muhammad Amjad Saqib and former foreign secretary Shamshad Ahmad received the coveted award from Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Asghar Zaidi at the concluding session of the University’s 20th Convocation.

Esteemed educationist Dr Arfa Sayeda Zehra and University of Health Sciences (UHS) VC Prof. Dr Javed Akram also received their award at the convocation. Singer Hadiqa Kiani joined the convocation through a video link and expressed gratitude to the University for the prestigious award.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Asghar Zaidi said that this year, GCU conferred Lifetime Achievement Awards on ten distinguished alumni from different walks of life to recognize their career-long outstanding work and achievements. He said the awardees included Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ramiz Raja and poet Prof. Khurshid Rizvi who are abroad these days for work. He pledged that GCU would continue this tradition of honouring its alumni.

Speaking on the occasion, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan said he was extremely happy to learn from Vice Chancellor that students at GCU are encouraged to raise questions, entertain difference of opinion and form their opinions on the basis of sound arguments. He believed that raising questions is even more important than the answers. “Societies in which raising questions is not allowed cannot develop,” he said.

Dr Arfa Sayeda Zehra said no ordinary person has ever studied at the Government College. “It would be right to say that the Government College has made every ordinary person extraordinary,” he explained. Shamshad Ahmad gave a detailed account of the diplomatic efforts during the nuclear explosions in 1998. He also paid tribute to VC Prof. Zaidi for reviving the old traditions of the Government College.

Dr Amjad Saqib and Prof. Dr Javed Akram also addressed the ceremony and shared memories of their college life. Earlier, Secretary Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta along with the Vice Chancellor awarded degrees and medals to students.

GCU awards Co-Curricular Rolls of Honour to 55 Students 

Lahore, November 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Government College University Lahore on Saturday awarded Rolls of Honour to 55 students and medals to 15 for their exceptional performance in co-curricular activities during 2021-22. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi along with Distinguished Professor Dr. Zaheer-ud-Khan awarded the rolls of honour to students on second day of convocation.

As many 2303 degrees are being awarded at the GCU’s 20th Convocation which is spread over three days. It includes total 67 PhD degrees and 692 MS/MPhil degrees. As many as five students will also be awarded Roll of Honour for their outstanding achievements in sports during the last academic year. In his address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Zaidi said the unique grooming of students at GCU is hinged on the wonderful efforts of its co-curricular societies and clubs run by students. “It enhances their leadership abilities and brings to the surface their creative and analytical skills,” he added.

He said 92 societies and clubs at GCU cater to diverse activities under the aegis of the GCU Societies’ Board; the students are encouraged to raise significant questions, entertain difference of opinion, form their opinions on the basis of sound arguments, and have tolerance towards the faith, beliefs, religion and ideas of other people.

He said that the first and biggest All Pakistan Summit for Students’ Societies was held at GCU in last academic year. The Vice Chancellor advised graduates that in pursuit of splendour and glory, they ought to preserve the traditions of creativity, insight and perseverance which are always cherished at GCU. “Your success lies in the measure of resilience and cerebral vigour,” he said. Distinguished Professor Dr. Zaheer-ud-Khan also congratulated the graduates, saying that “this is just the beginning; you are a star in the making.”

At the concluding session of the convocation, besides degrees and awards, the University will also confer the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Awards upon its ten distinguished alumni from different walks of life to recognize their career-long outstanding work and achievements. Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi is also expected to grace this special occasion.

Old Ravians to be honoured this year are Dr Muhammad Amjad Saqib, Aitzaz Ahsan, Dr Arfa Sayeda Zehra, Hadiqa Kiani, Dr Samar Mubarakmand, Ramiz Raja, Prof. Dr Javed Akram, Shamshad Ahmad, Prof. Khurshid Rizvi and Professor Ahmed Rafique Akhtar.

The second semester examinations of ADE/BEd will be held from November 29 in government colleges affiliated to University of Sindh

Honours (regular and follower) in government colleges affiliated to the university were held from Tuesday, November 29, 2022.

Extension of date of re-allotment in Sindh University Boys Hostels till 14 November 

Jamshoro, November 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):The date of submission of form for re-allotment in boys hostels of Sindh University Jamshoro has been extended till 14th November. According to a statement issued by the Provost Boys Hostels Dr. Pansad Ali Khoso, the students staying in the hostels of University of Sindh can submit their application for re-allotment to the Provost’s office till November 14.

According to the notification, along with the application, 2 copies of admission fee challan, 2 copies of student ID card, 2 copies each of self and father’s ID card, 4 photographs, copy of domicile, one copy of previous allotment fee challan and A copy of the hostel form fee challan must be submitted. According to the announcement, students who want to get re-allotment in hostels can download the hostel allotment form and Rs.100 challan from their e-port. According to the declaration, a challan of Rs 100 hostel form fee can be submitted in any branch of Habib Bank.
