Punjab CM assures to get newspaper dues cleared in one month

Karachi, November 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):“Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, Chief Minister Punjab has assured to clear the dues of newspapers in one month, implementation of 25% quota and release of colour ads to regional newspapers and review of Punjab advertising policy in consultation with APNS. He was speaking to a delegation of the All Pakistan Newspapers Society comprising President APNS Sarmad Ali, Mujeeb Ur Rahman Shami, Jamil Ather, Nazafreen Saigol Lakhani, Shahab Zuberi, Khushnood Ali Khan, Umer Mujib Shami, Mumtaz Tahir, Muhammad Awais Khushnood, Mumtaz Ali Shah, S.M. Munir Jillani, Humayon Gulzar, Humayon Tariq, Syed Sajjad Bokhari, and Bilal Mahmood.

The Chief Minister was apprised about the problems and issues being faced by the newspaper industry in general and Punjab based publications in particular. Chaudhry Parvez Elahi assured that his Government appreciates the importance of print media and would address the problems of newspapers on top priority. He advised the DGPR Punjab to clear the outstanding dues of newspapers within one month. On request of APNS, the Chief Minister announced that henceforth 25% quota for regional newspapers will be implemented for all provincial government advertisements including colour ads. He was apprised on the concerns of APNS on Punjab’s advertising policy. Chaudhry Parvez Elahi decided to form a committee of stakeholders comprising the representatives of the Information Department and APNS to review the advertising policy and suggest changes in the policy.

Principal Secretary to CM Punjab Muhammad Khan Bhatti, Secretary Information Punjab, Asif Bilal Lodhi and DGPR Punjab Afraz Ahmed were also present in the meeting. Later the Executive Committee of the APNS held its meeting. The Executive Committee noted that the Federal Government despite its various assurances given to APNS have not been implemented to clear long outstanding dues of the print media. The federal government has also not announced an increase in the government advertisement rates and quantum as promised by the Prime Minister in his meeting with APNS and the Federal Information Minister in her interactions with the Society.

It was agreed that the APNS will apprise the Prime Minister of this delay and request him to address the above problems faced by the newspaper industry. The Executive Committee was also apprised that the KP government has not cleared the long outstanding dues of over Rs 1.5 billion relating to provincial government advertisements. It was decided that office bearers of APNS will take up the matter with the KP government on urgent basis. The Executive Committee approved the recommendations of Advertising Committee, Regional Press Committee and Scrutiny Committee. It was decided to grant associate membership to Daily Minute Mirror Lahore and provisional accreditation to M/s. Dynamic Media Lahore.

NUST holds Cleanliness Drive at Islamabad campus 

Islamabad, November 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):NUST Marketing and communications Directorate (M and C) organized a Cleanliness Drive at the NUST Islamabad campus, with the aim to spread awareness among the student’s faculty and staff about the importance of ensuring a clean environment in our surroundings and to rid the campus of all sorts of garbage and pollutants. NUSTians from all walks of life, including faculty, students, and staff participated in the drive with great zeal and zest. The participants were divided into three groups, in order to cover the entire Islamabad campus and the drive concluded at the NUST Main Office.

Rector NUST Engr. Javed Mahmood Bukhari along with Pro-Rector Academics Dr Osman Hasan, Principals of respective schools, and Head of departments also actively participated in the drive. Rector NUST appreciated the hard work of the sanitation and administrative staff at the campus and commended the great enthusiasm displayed by all NUSTians during the drive. He also reiterated the importance of cleanliness and how it is one of the virtues of becoming a good, decent and successful human being. The cleanliness drive imparted a significant message to NUSTians while reinforcing their commitment to keeping our campus and all our surroundings clean and pollution free.

RDC Organizes course on International Humanitarian Law 

Islamabad, November 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Regional Dawah Center (Sindh), Karachi, Dawah Academy, International Islamic University, Islamabad and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) organized a two-day course on International Humanitarian Law in collaboration with the ICRC. Forty Madrasahs from Karachi, Sukkur, Matiari, Mirpurkhas, Quetta, Kharan and other cities are participated in the workshop. Regional Adviser (International Law) Dr. Ziaullah Rahmani, Professor of Faculty of Sharia and Law, International Islamic University, Dr. muhammad Muneer, In-charge Regional Dawah Center Dr. Syed Aziz ur Rehman and faculty member University of Karachi Dr. Umair Mahmood Siddiqui and others spoke on various topics.

On the first day of the program, Professor Dr. Muhammad Munir gave a lively talk on the topic of “International Law of Humanity and Islamic Law of War”. He said what we read in the books of Islamic jurisprudence, same is discussed in this program. He said today West is presenting the same things in the name of the law of humanity, but the problem is that our scholars are not aware of Western law and the West is not aware of Islamic teachings and that gap is required to be abridged.

In the program, Dr. Ziaullah Rahmani gave an informative talk on the introduction of ICRC. He said it is a worldwide welfare organization focused on help of war hit ill humans who are rushed to hospital and taken care of in war situation. He said it has no discrimination of religion and it is benefiting a large number of Muslims in war affected areas. Dr. Syed Azizur Rahman gave an introduction of the Dawah Center and highlighted the aims and objectives of the course. While Dr. Umair Mahmood Siddiqui of University of Karachi discussed the Shariah status of Islamic agreements.

Chairman Task Force for Forest, Wildlife and Fisheries Badar Munir calls on CM Chaudhry Parvez Elahi

Lahore, November 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi met with the Chairman Task Force for Forest, Wildlife and Fisheries Badar Munir at CMO in which matters pertaining to the promotion of wildlife and fishery in the province came under discussion. The Chief Minister stated that all possible facilities will be provided for fish farming in Punjab and sought a comprehensive plan for the farming of trout fish in Punjab. CM revealed that a pilot project for the breeding of prawns will be readied adding that it has been decided to make online licence regarding hunting of wildlife and fisheries.

He apprised that the issuance of hunting licence will be incorporated in the ‘‘Go Punjab App’’ adding that all possible facilities will be provided to the persons bearing hunting licence. CM assured to resolve problems of the lower staff members of Forest, Wildlife and Fisheries department forthwith. CM apprised that facilities for the visitors will be increased in the safari zoo visiting it for recreation and vows to make safari zoo a recreational place of an international standard.

CM stated that South Asian and African theme zones will be established in the safari zoo adding that food courts will be set up in the safari zoo surrounding forest environment. Honorary Game Warden Wildlife Matloob Rabbani, Javed Chattha, Principal Secretary to CM Muhammad Khan Bhatti, Provincial Advisor Amir Saeed Rawn, Chief Conservator of Forest Shahid Rasheed Awan and concerned officials were also present on the occasion.

Senior film producer Sheikh Amjad Rasheed and Rana Khalid Manzoor call on CM Chaudhry Parvez Elahi 

Lahore, November 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi met with senior film producer Sheikh Amjad Rasheed and Rana Khalid Manzoor at his office in which matters relating to reviving film industry along with resolving its problems came under discussion. The Chief Minister while talking on the occasion underscored that steps will be taken on preferential basis for the revival of Pakistani films especially Punjabi films.

He disclosed than an endowment fund worth rupees one billion will be established for the welfare of artists adding that financial assistance for the deserving artists has been enhanced from rupees 5 thousand to rupees 25 thousand. CM assured that Punjab government will review to set up film production studio and all possible steps will be taken to provide quality recreational facilities to the people.

CM highlighted that employment opportunities will be generated with the enhancement of film production adding that Punjab is a fertile land with regard to art and culture. Sheikh Amjad Rasheed thanked the Chief Minister on the announcement to set up endowment fund for the artists and welcomed his decision. Sheikh Amjad Rasheed lauded CM Parvez Elahi for winning the hearts of artists by increasing their financial aid. Secretary Information Asif Bilal Lodhi and Press Secretary to CM Muhammad Iqbal Chaudhry were also present on the occasion.

Punjab government is the trust of Imran Khan and whenever Imran Khan asks to dissolve assembly then delay of not even a single minute will happen: CM Chaudhry Parvez Elahi 

Lahore, November 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said that Punjab government is the trust of Imran Khan adding that we are highly respectable and courteous people and whosoever we support then we do not desert him. CM emphatically stated that whenever we tendered our resignations from the Assemblies then the 27 km government of Shahbaz Sharif will not be able to last for 27 hours. The Chief Minister in his video message today stated that whenever Imran Khan asks him to dissolve Assembly then delay of not even a single minute will happen.

CM maintained that Allah Almighty has granted Imran Khan a new life adding that the political strategy of Imran Khan has entered into a decisive round in the Rawalpindi rally. The sea of people thronging the Rawalpindi rally speaks volumes about Imran Khan’s immense popularity. CM Parvez Elahi said that the fake alliance of PDM will turn into disunity soon after the resignations coming from the Provincial Assemblies. He denounced that the leaders of PML-N are impostors and are not refraining from speaking lies adding that they will come to know of their real worth in the elections which will be remembered even by their progenies.

CM emphasized that rule of law will prevail in this country and such productive works will be done which will be benefitted by the common as well as the poor along with their children adding that its beginning has started from Punjab. CM hoped that InshaAllah free cancer treatment will also be done in the province adding that by the grace of Allah Almighty a new positive outcome will surface every passing day whose benefits will reach to the impecunious and ordinary persons.
