Chairman Pakistan People’s Party and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s address on the eve of PPP’s 55th Foundation Day at Nishtar Park in Karachi

Karachi, November 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that he has never played on matters like relations with the US and negotiations with the IMF and nor will do such kind of politics in future as well but his Party will change the fate of the country with the support of the people of Pakistan.

Addressing a grand convention held at the historic Nishtar Park in Karachi on the occasion of the 55th foundation day of the PPP, the Party Chairman said that his party has always rejected the politics of hatred, anarchy and division of the nation. PPP is the only federal political party in the country, which believes in the politics of hope, unity and solidarity of the nation.

The leadership of this Party has served the people for 55 years. He further said that by raising the slogan of Jiye Bhutto, we made to flee, not one, but three dictators and given rights to every class. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari paid tribute to the Founding Chairman of PPP and the first elected Prime Minister of the country, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, saying that the leader of the people took the rein of a country, which had lost a war and become a broken nation, gave them hope for future.

He said that after the military failure, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto freed 90 thousand Pakistani Prisoners of War (POWs) from the captivity of the enemy with his wisdom, political insight and diplomacy and also retrieved over 5,000 square kilometres of land from the enemy. Today, black gold is coming out of this land, and the industries of Faisalabad are running on the electricity generated from it. Besides, today if Pakistan is a nuclear power in the world, it is because of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

PPP Chairman said that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave the first unanimous constitution to the country, gave rights to the people, gave the right to vote and passport to the common man, protected the economic rights of the poor, made the landless farmers the owners of the land, and empowered the workers to form unions, as well as free education and health care for their children.

He said that today’s youth do not know that it was Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who gave rights to the youth for the first time in the country. As the Prime Minister, he used to take the opinion from student unions on his foreign policy. He further said that today the youth is being wrongly asked that the ‘leaders’ take Uturns. We need a leader like Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who embraced martyrdom, but did not reverse his stance.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, while paying tribute to the former Chairperson of the Party and the first elected woman Prime Minister of the Islamic world, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, said that the Daughter of the East had witnessed the martyrdoms of her father and brothers, the torture and imprisonment of her mother and herself.

However, she did not do the politics of hatred and anarchy. He said that the bravery of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto is on one side and the bravery of all the male politicians of the country is on the other side. He said that despite the threats to her life, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto returned to the country and despite Pakistan’s biggest terrorist attack on her caravan in Karsaz, she continued to visit the nook and corners of the country and stood like giant in Rawalpindi to challenge dictators and terrorists and embraced martyrdom.

The PPP Chairman while giving details of the historical steps taken by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for the country and nation said that if her father had given rights to the workers and the youth were snatched by the dictator Zia, and the daughter restored those rights. Father made the country a nuclear power, daughter gave missile technology. She employed women as well as men and started programs like Lady Health Workers.

Today’s Internet in the country owes its existence to the initiative taken by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in 1990. He said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto also accepted martyrdom, but never took Uturn.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that after the martyrdom of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, if we wanted to do politics of hatred and revenge, we could have done so, but President Asif Ali Zardari raised the slogan of Pakistan Khappay while my slogan was “democracy is the best revenge” because we have not been taught the politics of hatred and anarchy.

He said that the government formed under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari restored democracy and the 1973 constitution in the country, sent Musharraf home, gave provincial autonomy and NFC awards, fulfilling the promise of “Roti, Kapra Aur Makaan”.

President Zardari’s government started Benazir Income Support Programme, founded CPEC and released all political prisoners. He said that when people raised the slogan “Ek Zardari Sab Par Bhaari”, President Zardari stopped them saying “Ek Zardari Saab Yaari”. This is all because we do politics of unity and solidarity.

The Foreign Minister said that when he was entering politics, there was a conspiracy to limit the PPP to one province and eliminate it, as well as to establish Selected’s Rule in the country. PPP Parliamentarians including President Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur were jailed and we were pushed against the well, but still we did not do politics of hatred and anarchy because we always compete in a democratic way.

We did not knock the door of the court or looked elsewhere. For the first time in the country’s history, we sent a prime minister home through a no-confidence motion. It was the struggle and hard work of Jiyalas who took out long march from Karachi to Islamabad where not a single stone was thrown. But Imran Khan wants to give credit to the White House for the hard work of the Jiyalas, he added.
