Kaur leads Indian charge in MRF Tyres ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings 

Dubai, September 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Captain Harmanpreet Kaur leads a bunch of India players who have made rapid gains in the MRF Tyres ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings after some excellent performances that helped complete a 3-0 sweep over England in their ICC Women’s Championship (IWC) series.

Kaur, who smashed a match-winning 143 not out of 111 deliveries in the second match in Canterbury, has gained four slots to reach fifth position while opener Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma have also moved up in the latest update that considers performances in the last two matches of that series as well as the IWC series between the West Indies and New Zealand.

Mandhana, a formerly top-ranked batter, who scored 40 and 50 in the two matches, has inched up one place to take sixth position while Sharma’s unbeaten 68 not out in the third match at Lord’s has lifted her eight places to 24th position.

Pooja Vastrakar (up four places to 49th) and Harleen Deol (up 46 places to 81st) are other India players to move up the batters’ list while new-ball bowler Renuka Singh has galloped 35 places to take 35th position after grabbing four wickets each in the two matches. Fast bowler Jhulan Goswami, a formerly top-ranked bowler, retired in fifth position.

England’s Danny Wyatt, who scored 65 in the second match, has gained two slots to reach 21st position among batters while Amy Jones is up four places to 30th. Charlie Dean has progressed 24 places to get to 62nd among batters and one slot to 19th among bowlers.

West Indies captain Hayley Matthews has grabbed the No. 1 position for all-rounders in the ODI format for the first time in her career after aggregating 88 runs and grabbing five wickets in a 2-1 series win over New Zealand. Mathews, who has been a top ranked all-rounder in T20Is in the past, has also moved up three slots to 18th among batters and two places to sixth among bowlers.

Lauren Down of New Zealand (up 15 places to 55th) is another batter to progress after the series while Hannah Rowe (up two places to 33rd), Amelia Kerr (up four places to 11th) and Jess Kerr (up one place to 21st) have moved up in the list for bowlers. West Indies leg-spinner Afy Fletcher is now in 41st position.

In the MRF Tyres ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings, Thailand’s Natthakan Chantham, who was named Player of the Match for a valiant 64 off 51 deliveries in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2022 semifinal against Bangladesh, has moved up two places to 14th position while Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce is up one place to 19th position.

Zimbabwe’s Sharne Mayers (up 18 places to 21st), United Arab Emirates’ Theertha Sathish (up nine places to 28th), Ireland’s Gaby Lewis (up one places to joint-29th, Papua New Guinea’s Brenda Tau (up nine places to 33rd) and Bangladesh’s Murshida Khatun (up 23 places to 36th) are among the others to move up the rankings for batters.

Off-spinners Nattaya Boochatham (up one place to 14th) of Thailand and Precious Marange (up five places to 29th) of Zimbabwe and Ireland medium-pacer Arlene Kelly (up 39 places to 39th) are among those to move up in the bowlers’ list.

PVMC has granted permanent accreditation to FV and A IUB for the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program 

Bahawalpur, September 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Veterinary and Medical Council has granted permanent accreditation to Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur for Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. Similarly, permission has also been given to start evening classes of fifty students for DVM program.

Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences has also been approved to start MPhil program in six subjects. This historic development was announced by the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council in a special announcement today. Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob congratulated Dean Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Prof. Dr. Khalid Mansoor and the students for this great achievement.

He thanked Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council President Prof. Dr. Masood Rabbani, Convener Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar Khan and Prof. Dr. Khalid Mansoor and former President PVMC Dr. Muhammad Arshad. It is worth mentioning that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Veterinary College was established in 2006.

During the tenure of the present Vice-Chancellor in the year 2020, the college was given the status of Veterinary Faculty and faculty members were appointed at the level of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor as per the norms of the Veterinary Council.

A veterinary hospital and a live-stock farm were established and laboratory and other facilities were added. Thanks to these additional measures, the Pakistan Veterinary and Medical Council has resolved the long-standing problem by granting permanent accreditation to Jamia Islamia DVM program.

AIAA under the Student Affairs Department conducted Intra GIK Event on 21st September 2022 

Swabi, September 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) under the Student Affairs Department conducted Intra GIK Event on 21st September 2022 at GIK main Sports Ground. The event included introduction of AIAA Society to familiarize the new students with the essence of AIAA at GIK Institute.

The Intra GIK event included ACX and Air Show along with Paper Plane Competition at the Sports Ground. It also included the Lightening 95 (The RC UAV constructed and fabricated by ICARUSI) was used for the Air Show. Water Rockets were demonstrated in the ACX. The purpose of the event was to highlight AIAA GIKI Chapter and to promote the contemporary field of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Inauguration of special bus service for students of Hasilpur 

Bahawalpur, September 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob has inaugurated a special bus service for the students of Hasilpur. He said that hundreds of students from Hasilpur tehsil are studying in different departments of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. These students were suffering due to lack of proper travel facilities.

University has started bus service on the long-standing demands of these students and parents. They said that 2 buses are already running for Khairpur Tamiwali and now with the addition of Hasilpur bus, the number of these points has increased to 3 buses. Considering the number of students, the number of these buses can be increased.

Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob inaugurated campus TV studio equipped with modern facilities in the Department of Media Studies. On this occasion, Chairman Department of Media Studies, Prof. Dr. Abdul Wajid Khan, Controller of Examinations, Prof. Dr. Sajjad Ahmed Pracha, Director TV and Broadcast, Prof. Dr. Rana Shahzad, Director Campus TV and Digital Media Studio, Prof. Dr. Rao Muhammad Shahid, Assistant Professor, Dr. Jam Sajjad Hussain, Director Press Media and Publications, Shahzad Ahmed Khalid, teachers and students were present.

The Vice-Chancellor said that the Department of Media Studies has a special place in Pakistan and a large number of students who graduated from it are serving at the national and international level. Practical Training of students is very important. He said that the university already has FM 92.6 campus radio and now the students will get practical training through campus TV and also highlight the activities of the university.

Summer Gala is an event where the batch was enlightened with the campus life in GIKI, along with fun interacted games, food stalls. Some of the fun interacting games included Tug of War, Darts, Ping Pong ball in the cup, Bell Rings, Ludo and Wet Sponge.
