Seminar on Freelancing Career and Textile Engineering

Faisalabad, April 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Society of Garments Manufacturer (SGM) organized a seminar on “Freelancing Career and Textile Engineering” on March 29, 2022. Distinguished Speaker Mr. Muhammad Usman, a student of the Garment Manufacturer’s Department who has also a successful freelancing career, shared his thoughts, techniques, and experience with the students.

The respected speaker enlightened the importance of emerging field of freelancing and its scope for textile graduates. He also told the students how they can use their free time in this field to support their financial problems. He also discussed the issues faced by beginners in this field. Mr. Muhammad Usman was presented with shield and thanked for sharing his expertise with students and guiding them.

The seminar on the Topic “Yom-e-Shahadat Hazrat Ali Karram Allah Wajhahu” 

Faisalabad, April 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):A seminar to commemorate the days of, Martyrdom of Hazrat Ali Karram Allah Wajhahu, Death Anniversary of Hazrat Haleema Saadia (R.A) and Conquest of Makkah, was organized in TUF on April 22, 2022.

After recitation of Holy Quraan and Naat-e-Rasool Maqbool (SAW), Ms Ayesha Batool and students offered Manaqib of Hazrat Ali (Karram Allah Wajhahu) and Manaqib-e-Ehl-e-Bait Athaar (Alaehimus-Salam). Ms Nadia Khan Qadri and Dr Matlob Ahmed in their address paid rich tribute to the great companion of Holy Prophet (SAW) saying that there was no other personality that could be compared with Hazrat Ali (Karram Allah Wajhahu) in knowledge, wisdom and bravery.

She stressed the need to follow the Seerat and teachings of Hazrat Ali (Karram Allah Wajhahu) in true letter and spirit. She also shared her views on the life of Hazrat Haleema Saadia (R.A) and conquest of Makkah. Large number of faculty members, staff and students attended the seminar.

UVAS arranged walk and seminar to mark International DNA Day

Lahore, April 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology (IBBT) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore observed international DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) Day on Monday here in City Campus. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad led the walk starting from Vice-Chancellor office and culminating in front of DNA model at the Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology (IBBT) while Director (IBBT) Prof Dr Waseem Shahzad, Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Prof Dr Yasir Zahoor and a large number of students and faculty members participated.

Later in the seminar, Director Institute of Industrial Biotechnology from Government College University Lahore Prof Dr Nauman Aftab delivered a detailed lecture on the introduction of DNA and its importance in the modern era. The day was celebrated in memory of discovery of DNA structure, because the advances in health agriculture and other fields of biotechnology took place after this amazing discovery of DNA by James D. Watson and Francis H. C. Crick that was reported on 25th April 1953.

Promotion of Civic Engagement and Good Citizenship – Ismaili CIVIC Donates Trees to LUMS 

Lahore, April 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):On March 4, 2022, the Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) at LUMS partnered with The Ismaili Council for Central Region to organise a tree planting ceremony under the banner of Ismaili CIVIC. Sesame, Gold Mohar, and Jacaranda saplings were donated to the University to promote civic engagement and good citizenship as part of their tree plantation drive, ‘Darakht se Hayat’.

Representing LUMS at the occasion were the University’s senior leadership, including Board of Trustee members, Dr. Pervez Hassan and Mr. Osman Khalid Waheed; Interim Provost, Dr. Tariq Jadoon, and Honorary Dean SDSB, Dr. Alnoor Bhimani. They were joined by President Ismaili Council for Central Region, Dr. Nadir Anjum; Chairperson Ismaili CIVIC for Central Region, Naveed Aly Manji, and Ismaili community leaders, Didar Ali Hunzai, Rahim Javed, Asim Shahzad Shaikh, Shezeen Hemani, Ibrahim Machiwala, and Fakhra Nisar, along with boy scouts and girl guides.

Dr. Bhimani welcomed the delegates and said, “Syed Babar Ali mentioned that 35 years ago when they were setting up LUMS, they were very particular about having gardens and a green environment. I understand the importance of greenery around learning. A committee was set up at LUMS, including professors from the Biology department, and they decided that they needed to be very particular about the trees they wanted to plant. Syed Babar Ali envisions every tree from Pakistan to be represented on the campus – and that has been going on for 35 years. We are still not there yet, and some we will plant today. As I read about the Ismaili CIVIC programme, it is about the values of service, care and compassion for others. It is great to see you here.”

Dr. Anjum thanked everyone at LUMS for their hospitality and warm welcome. He shared, “I am very pleased to host this event today in collaboration with LUMS. On behalf of the Ismaili CIVIC, I would like to thank LUMS for taking this ride along with us. Ismaili CIVIC is a global programme under which the Shia Ismaili Muslim community has united for its centuries-old tradition of serving humanity by rendering voluntary service to improve the quality of life of the communities they live in, regardless of faith, gender, and background.” This was followed by a presentation about the initiatives of the Ismaili CIVIC and the ceremony ended with planting trees on the SDSB lawns.

Department of Arabic holds Orientation Session at FG Colleges for Women 

Islamabad, April 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Department of Arabic (Female Campus) of the of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) conducted an orientation sessions on Arabic Language and Faculty of Arabic at IIUI among female students of FG College for Women, F7/2 and IMCG, I-8, Islamabad. Dr. Aliya Akram, Chairperson, Faculty of Arabic, Female Campus, IIUI briefed the students about the faculty, its departments and programs being taught at university among college students.

During orientation sessions Dr. Aliya Akram also shared the purpose of conducting these sessions in Federal Government Educational Institutions and said that Faculty of Arabic intends to introduce Arabic Language techniques to the students of different educational institutions as per latest skills and techniques of language learning so that after completion of college studies they can comfortable join the Faculty of Arabic at University level.

She also highlighted the significance of Arabic Language techniques and explained the depth of Arabic words through Qur’anic Verses among session participants. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Sausan Hassanein Ahmed Hassanein Elhodhod (Jamia tul Azhar, from Egypt elaborated the phonetic of the Arabic alphabet through Qur’anic examples, and explained its effects on the meaning through changing of a letter.

Dr. Fouzia Mir Taj during her lecture elaborated the effects of Arabic Grammar and added using Qur’anic examples that the Arabic language has the unique position due to its grammar. Orientation sessions were attended by a large number of students which were appreciated by the heads of institutions as well.

3,822 clubs featured in 7,009 matches in the 2021-22 season 

Lahore, April 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Cricket Board’s efforts for the democratisation of the game continued in the 2021-22 season as it provided guidance and assistance to the six Cricket Associations for the growth and promotion of cricket at the grassroots level.

The efforts reaped great benefits for club cricketers with as many as 3,822 club sides across the country playing 7,009 matches.

The six CAs conducted cricket leagues in their respective jurisdictions in the five-month period between October 2021 and February 2022, providing a pathway for the aspiring cricketers to graduate to the apex domestic level and also helping in the unearthing of cricket talent in both urban and rural centers.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, whose talent across all rungs continues to dominate the domestic scene, saw 844 clubs play 1,530 matches from 13 November 2021 to 20 January 2022. Central Punjab and Sindh had the next best number of club participation with 788 and 670 sides playing 1,482 and 1,172 matches, respectively.

In Southern Punjab, 517 clubs played 1,100 matches, while 512 clubs in Balochistan and 491 in Northern featured in 700 and 1,025 games, respectively.

The club cricket leagues in the Balochistan, Central Punjab, Northern, Sindh and Southern Punjab began on 20 October 2021 and finished early this year.

Nadeem Khan, Director – High Performance: “Club cricket acts as a feeder for domestic cricket and it was vital that we created an atmosphere in which our six Cricket Associations were able to maximise cricket at grassroots.

“I want to congratulate the Cricket Associations, who have delivered these matches and have more such activities planned that are in line with the PCB has a vision of helping grassroots cricket grow and flourish. The PCB aims to continue to work closely with the six Cricket Associations so that we can collectively provide maximum playing opportunities to the budding cricketers in an effort to help them achieve their career objectives.”

In the coming months, the PCB will run an independent scrutiny process to further boost the development of the game at the club level.

Separately, extensive work continued to attract schoolchildren towards cricket, as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Central Punjab and Southern Punjab organised school cricket leagues.

Three-hundred school teams in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa played 565 matches from 7 October to 8 November last year.

Southern Punjab’s school league saw 184 schools compete in 295 matches from 15 November 2021 till 5 January 2022, while 162 schools in Central Punjab have played 458 matches to date with the two-day league presently ongoing.

Earlier in the month, Dar-e-Arqam Lahore won the Central Punjab Weekend School Championship 2021-22 on the basis of first innings lead in a draw against Divisional Public School Faisalabad at Pakistan’s home of cricket, the Gaddafi Stadium. The final was televised on PTV Sports.

These schools matches were in addition to the 16 U13 and 31 U16 matches, which were organised by the PCB as part of the National U13 and U16 Cups held between 27 January and 7 February.
