President Zardari Launches Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026, Urges Collective Environmental Responsibility

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari addressed the nation on the launch of the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026, emphasizing the initiative as a vital step towards environmental protection and climate resilience in Pakistan. The campaign aims to plant 20 million saplings nationwide, underscoring the importance of forests in sustaining biodiversity, protecting watersheds, and combating land degradation.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, the campaign reflects Pakistan's commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goals and fulfilling international environmental obligations such as the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Strategic Plan for Forests. The Federal and Provincial Governments, along with the Governments of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and other stakeholders, are collaborating to enhance forest conservation and ecosystem restoration.

National initiatives like the Upscaling Green Pakistan Programme and sustainable forest management are contributing to increased tree cover and biodiversity protection. President Zardari highlighted the practical benefits of trees in urban and rural areas, including providing shade, improving air quality, and supporting rural livelihoods.

The President also praised the participation in the Spring Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 and called for active involvement in the current campaign, particularly from youth, educational institutions, and communities. He stressed that the campaign is more than just planting trees, but a call for sustained environmental stewardship.

President Zardari commended the Ministry of Climate Change, Provincial Forest Departments, development partners, and volunteers for their role in conserving Pakistan’s forest resources. He urged a collective effort to ensure the survival and growth of newly planted saplings, aiming for a greener, climate-resilient Pakistan for future generations.
