Karachi: Pakistan's cricket team has been sanctioned for maintaining a slow over-rate during the final ICC World Test Championship match against England in Birmingham. The team was found to be 11 overs short after time allowances, resulting in a 50 percent fine on their match fee and an 11-point deduction in the World Test Championship cycle. The match ended in an eight-wicket victory for England.

According to International Cricket Council, the sanctions were imposed by Ranjan Madugalle of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, following charges by on-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Chris Gaffaney, third umpire Allahudien Palekar, and fourth umpire Russell Warren. This penalty places Pakistan ninth in the World Test Championship standings, with a points percentage of 4.63.

The ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel stipulates a fine of five percent of the match fee for each over not bowled in the allotted time, up to a maximum of 50 percent. Additionally, the ICC World Test Championship playing conditions enforce a one-point deduction per over short. Pakistan is set to play their next series in November against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
