Islamabad, The Virtual University of Pakistan is set to hold its 13th Convocation on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad. The event is scheduled to commence at 8:30 am, marking a significant day for the registered graduates who will be celebrating the completion of their academic journey.
According to Virtual University of Pakistan, invitation letters for the convocation have been dispatched to all registered graduates. The university emphasizes that entry to the venue will be restricted to those holding invitation cards, including a Student Entry Card and a Guest Entry Card. Only one guest per graduate is allowed, and their details must match those mentioned on the Guest card.
The convocation has specific guidelines to ensure the smooth running of the event. Entry is strictly limited to invitees, with no on-spot registration permitted. Children are not allowed inside the convocation hall. Graduates are advised that mobile phones, cameras, electronic gadgets, and handbags are not allowed within the hall and must be submitted at collection counters outside. Original CNIC and invitation cards are mandatory for entry, and graduates are required to bring two copies of their CNIC for registration and degree collection.
Graduates must rent academic attire, including a gown, hood, and cap, for Rs. 400, along with a refundable security deposit of Rs. 1500. Professional photography services are available, but graduates must bear the cost of these pictures. The university has also enforced a strict policy against eatables, weapons, escorts, and vehicles with CNG kits inside the venue.
The convocation ceremony has a specific decorum that graduates must follow. They are required to wear their academic attire throughout, stand up during the entry and departure of the Academic Procession, and rise during the conferment of degrees as their degree programs or batches are announced.
Special instructions are provided for distinction holders receiving honors on stage. They must register at a defined area and inform the ushers of their status as distinction holders. Ushers will guide them to their seats and form a queue for moving towards the stage. When their names are announced, they will walk across the stage to receive their awards or honors from the Chief Guest or Rector, during which photography will take place.
