Lahore: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore marked the culmination of its two-week Clinical Competency Enhancement Program (Phase 1). The program, a collaborative effort between the Department of Veterinary Surgery, the Department of Small Animal Clinical Science, and the Department of Pathology, focused on refining clinical expertise in anesthesia, small animal medicine, necropsy, and surgery. The closing ceremony took place at the National Academy for Veterinary Clinical Competency at UVAS City Campus Lahore.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) presided over the ceremony, conferring certificates upon participants and resource persons. Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Chairman Department of Pathology Prof Dr Yasin Tipu, Chairperson Department of Surgery Dr Ayesha Hassan, Dr Zia Ullah Mughal, along with faculty and participants, were also in attendance.
Prof Dr Younus emphasized the importance of such training initiatives in bolstering the practical proficiency and capacity building of veterinary professionals. Prof Dr Durrani highlighted the program’s goals of improving hands-on skills and clinical judgment among veterinary professionals and postgraduate trainees.
The program offered theoretical lectures and practical demonstrations on various topics, including anesthesia dosage calculation, anesthetic drug protocols, anesthesia equipment operation, post-operative pain management, surgical patient preparation, instrument sterilization, physical examination, diagnostic testing, treatment protocols, clinical cases and procedures, necropsy techniques, external examination, common postmortem challenges, organ examination, and histopathological examination techniques.
