UVAS and SARP Celebrate Prof Manzoor Ahmad’s Contributions to Veterinary Education on His 90th Birthday

Lahore, The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore (UVAS), in collaboration with the Society for Animal Reproduction of Pakistan (SARP), organized a special ceremony to honor Prof Dr. Manzoor Ahmad, a former UVAS Vice-Chancellor, on his 90th birthday. The event recognized Prof Ahmad’s significant contributions to veterinary education and his pioneering work in the field of reproduction in dairy animals.

According to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the ceremony was attended by notable personalities including UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr. Muhammad Younus, Emeritus Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmad, SARP President Prof Dr. Amjad Riaz, and former hockey player and Olympian/Gold Medalist Prof Dr. Tariq Aziz Khawaja. The event also saw participation from various stakeholders in the poultry, dairy, livestock, and meat industries, officials from the Livestock Department, and Prof Ahmad’s daughters.

Prof Ahmad, in his address, credited the collective efforts behind UVAS’s global recognition for its quality of education and research. He emphasized the importance of hard work for success and expressed his dedication to the institution’s development. The celebration included a cake-cutting ceremony to mark Prof Ahmad’s 90th birthday.

Prof Dr. Muhammad Younus praised Prof Ahmad as an institution in himself and the father of the veterinary profession in Pakistan, highlighting his crucial role in the development of the country’s livestock sector. Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmad detailed Prof Ahmad’s biography, celebrating his 70 years of administrative, developmental, academic, and research experience, including his tenure as vice-chancellor, principal, and professor across renowned global institutions.

Prof Dr. Amjad Riaz discussed the objectives of SARP, focusing on the dissemination of knowledge regarding artificial insemination, reproduction of dairy animals, and embryo transfer technology to enhance the dairy sector in Pakistan. The event underscored Prof Ahmad’s legacy as a role model for future generations and a valuable asset to UVAS and the veterinary field at large.
