Islamabad: The University of Turbat (UoT) Academic Council, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, convened its seventeenth meeting on August 19, 2025, approving new undergraduate and graduate programs for Spring 2026, along with key academic policies and reforms. Prof. Hasan stressed his dedication to transparency and academic excellence, aligning university operations with the Balochistan Universities Act and decisions of statutory bodies. He lauded the new programs as a significant milestone during his tenure.
The council ratified decisions from various faculty boards, the Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB), the Affiliation Committee, and departmental Boards of Studies. Nominations for ASRB membership were also made, adhering to the Balochistan Universities Act 2022. The transcript format for fifth-semester students in four-year undergraduate programs was examined. The council also supported implementing the Prime Minister’s “Each One Teaches One” literacy initiative.
Several academic issues were addressed, including readmissions, results, transcripts, and special examinations. The 2025 academic calendar for undergraduate and postgraduate studies was also approved. The council endorsed the establishment of a National Skills Certification Program (NSCP) center under a prime ministerial directive, revenue-generating academic ventures, and implementation of Higher Education Commission (HEC) directives regarding Fehm-e-Quran and Pakistan Studies.
A Software Development Center within the Law Department building was greenlit. The council promoted UoT’s involvement in HEC international collaborations, the adoption of the 2024 Transnational Education (TNE) Policy, and internal guidelines for MS/MPhil and PhD admissions. Attendees included deans, the registrar, directors, department heads, the controller of examinations, government and HEC representatives, and Academic Council members.
