Sargodha: The University of Sargodha’s Department of Communication and Media Studies hosted a notable photojournalism exhibition to honor World Press Freedom Day. The event, inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaiser Abbas, featured an array of student works that underscored the power of visual storytelling.
During his tour of the exhibition, Dr. Abbas viewed the student displays and praised their narrative strength. He remarked on the essential role of photojournalists in capturing impactful narratives, emphasizing their courage in navigating diverse situations to document reality.
Dr. Abbas also revealed plans to expand the department into a School of Media and Communication Studies. This expansion includes a focus on photojournalism as a specialized discipline. He highlighted the importance of aligning academic offerings with market needs to prepare students for contemporary challenges.
The exhibition connected with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on themes such as equitable development, gender equality, and health.
The event attracted numerous attendees, including students, faculty members, and representatives from media organizations. Notable participants included Instructor Agha Rizwan Ali, faculty members Dr. Saima Kausar and Dr. Abdul Rehman Qaiser, and Public Relations Officer Faisal Javed.
