Haripur, The University of Haripur recently celebrated its third convocation, marking a significant milestone in promoting education and gender equality. The event saw the graduation of 662 students, including a notable majority of female graduates, under the patronage of Provincial Minister for Higher Education Meena Khan Afridi.

According to The University of Haripur, the convocation was attended by dignitaries such as local MPA Malik Adeel Iqbal, graduate MPA Iftikhar Ullah Khan, former MPA Dr. Faiza Rasheed, and Director PMU Basir Khan, alongside Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shafiq Ur Rahman. The event celebrated the achievements of students, with 83 of them receiving gold medals for outstanding academic performance, 61 of whom were female.

Vice-Chancellor Rahman highlighted the university’s growth in academics, research, and infrastructure since its inception in 2012. From starting with six sectors, the university now serves nine thousand students across thirty departments and 120 programs, attracting not only local but also international students. He also emphasized the university’s strategic focus on market-relevant programs and mentioned the need for more land to accommodate future expansions, a point he raised with Minister Afridi during the event.

Minister Afridi commended the graduates and the university’s role in nurturing the nation’s youth, considering them critical to national and global progress. He reassured continued support from the provincial government for the university’s development needs, particularly in securing additional land.
