Uncapped Talent Joins Pakistan’s Squad for Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025

Karachi: Fatima Sana will captain Pakistan’s national team for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, leading a 15-member squad featuring several new faces. Among the fresh talents, 20-year-old Eyman Fatima, who recently made her international debut in T20Is in Ireland, stands out as a promising addition. Eyman’s selection follows her impressive performance in Pakistan’s National T20 tournament earlier this year.

The squad includes Natalia Parvaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadaf Shamas, Sadia Iqbal, Shawaal Zulfiqar, and Syeda Aroob Shah, all preparing for their first appearances in an ODI World Cup. The team, under the leadership of all-rounder Fatima Sana, aims for a strong showing in the international tournament.

Pakistan will compete in all group-stage matches at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. Having qualified through the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in April, Pakistan topped the standings with victories over teams like West Indies and Bangladesh.

Gull Feroza and Najiha Alvi, who were part of the Qualifier squad, will join Tuba Hassan, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar as travelling reserves. The team will face South Africa in a three-match ODI series in Lahore from September 16 to 22, preceding the World Cup.

Ahead of the series, all 15 players and the five reserves will engage in a 14-day training camp starting August 29. Under the guidance of head coach Muhammad Wasim, the camp will include practice sessions and 50-over practice matches to prepare the squad.

The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup is scheduled from September 30 to November 2, with Pakistan set to kick off their campaign against Bangladesh on October 2. To date, four teams have announced their squads for the event.
