UK Delegation Tours Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Inaugurates New NICU

Lahore: An international delegation from the United Kingdom, including prominent figures from the medical community, recently visited Sir Ganga Ram Hospital to inaugurate a new state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The visit highlighted ongoing collaborations and advancements in healthcare facilities.

According to Fatima Jinnah Medical University – Lahore, the delegation was led by Dr. Sarah Clarke, former President of the Royal College of Physicians, and included Dr. Sebastian Alexander and Dr. Asad Rahim from the Regional Director CPSP Regional Centre Birmingham, UK. They were accompanied by Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal. The new NICU is equipped with over 24 ventilators, aiming to boost the hospital’s capacity to care for newborns with critical needs.

During their visit, the team explored various departments, including Obstetrics & Gynecology, where they attended a training workshop on VPD Surveillance. Dr. Clarke expressed her admiration for the hospital’s modern facilities and the vision of the Government of Punjab and the specialized healthcare Department. Dr. Alexander praised the accessibility of advanced health services in Pakistan, noting the significant contributions of Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal towards enhancing public health.

The visit also included a stop at the Lahore College for Women University, where discussions on international innovation, professional development, and challenges in higher education were held. The day concluded with a dinner meeting hosted by the honorable Minister for SHC&ME, Khawaja Muhammad Salman Rafique, where the UK delegation was honored with souvenirs as a token of appreciation.
