UAE to Host ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 at Two Premier Cricket Venues

Dubai: The upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will unfold across two distinguished venues in the United Arab Emirates as 10 international teams vie for the championship. Starting on October 3, the tournament will kick off at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, followed by significant matches at Dubai International Stadium, including the final on October 20.

According to International Cricket Council, the tournament will feature 23 matches, commencing with a double-header at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. This venue, known for hosting over 200 One-Day Internationals since its inception in 1982, will also see key games such as Pakistan versus Sri Lanka and a semi-final match. Dubai International Stadium will host the first matches on October 4, including a highly anticipated game between 2023 finalists South Africa and 2016 champions West Indies, and will later stage the grand final.

Both stadiums boast a rich history of cricketing events, with Dubai International Stadium having facilitated 13 matches during the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, including the final. Sharjah Cricket Stadium, recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records for hosting the most ODIs, will also feature crucial group-stage games, including the clash between India and Australia.

The selection of these venues underscores their global cricketing significance and the UAE’s capacity to host major international sports events, promising a tournament rich in competitive spirit and international camaraderie.
