Two Faculty Members from International Islamic University Complete Prestigious UK Training Program

Islamabad, In a significant stride toward enhancing the quality of PhD supervision in Pakistan, Prof. Dr. Saeed Badshah and Dr. Shamaila Sajjad of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) have successfully completed an advanced training program in the United Kingdom. This initiative, aimed at bolstering the capacities of PhD supervisors, was organized in collaboration with Coventry University, the British Council, the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.

According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the training was part of a broader PhD Supervisor Capacity Building Program designed to elevate the standards of doctoral research guidance in the country. The program’s concluding session was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Zia Ul-Qayum, Executive Director of HEC, and Prof. Dr. Ian Dunn of Coventry University. The nomination and selection process for this esteemed training were facilitated by the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) at IIUI, highlighting ORIC’s crucial support role in the initiative. Prof. Dr. Saeed Badshah and Dr. Shamaila Sajjad were part of a select group of 18 faculty members chosen for the advanced segment of the program in the UK, following an initial 5-day workshop in Islamabad and a subsequent “Master Trainers Capacity Building” phase.

Now certified as Master Trainers, Prof. Badshah and Dr. Sajjad are poised to play a key role in advancing the skills and methodologies of PhD supervisors across Pakistan, thereby contributing to the elevation of academic and research standards at the doctoral level. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of higher education and research in Pakistan.
