Training conducted for engineers to familiarise with solar, wind generation

Lahore, April 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):A 0.5 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credit point training workshop on “Integration and Exploitation of Renewable and Wind Energy Sources in Smart Power System” for Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) registered students was held on March 7, 2022 at the University of Lahore (UOL), Defence Road Campus.

The training was conducted by the Department of Computer Engineering under the facilitation of Engr. Ihsan Ullah (Assistant Professor, UOL) to familiarise engineers with solar, wind energy generation and integration. This session informed the participants regarding mechanisms in which the existing power grid can be increased in order to meet the demands of the rapid population growth. It also briefed them about the current status of large, grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) and wind energy, its benefits, constraints to development, as well as strategies for mitigating negative impacts and overcoming barriers to investment.

During the training session, Engr. Ihsan Ullah enhanced engineers’ knowledge and skills. The trainer further addressed the key challenges confronting PV and wind power developers, including resource variability, grid integration and transmission costs, with providing best practices for enabling the development of PV and wind power.
