Top Batters Shine in Pakistan Super League Season 9


Lahore: The ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) concluded with impressive performances from several top batters, despite the overall scoring not reaching the high marks set in the previous season. Notably, Babar Azam led the charts, setting records and helping elevate the level of competition.



According to Pakistan Super League, Babar Azam, representing Peshawar Zalmi, emerged as the leading run-scorer of the season, accumulating 569 runs across 11 innings, including a spectacular unbeaten 111 against Islamabad United. His efforts not only showcased his consistent prowess but also anchored his team’s batting lineup throughout the tournament. Following him, Usman Khan of Multan Sultans displayed formidable skill, amassing 430 runs with an extraordinary average of 107.50, highlighted by two centuries—the only player to achieve this feat during the season.



The performances extended beyond individual accolades, contributing to their teams’ strategies and successes. Muhammad Rizwan, also from Multan Sultans, solidified his reputation as a reliable wicketkeeper-batter, scoring 407 runs, including a top score of 82 against Lahore Qalandars. South African import Rassie van der Dussen made a significant impact for Lahore Qalandars, with 364 runs at a strike rate of 154.89, punctuated by a high score of 104 not out.



The season’s statistics reflect a vibrant competition, with players like Saim Ayoub of Peshawar Zalmi also making a mark with 345 runs. His performances, including a high score of 88, demonstrate the emerging talent in the league, setting the stage for an exciting future.



As fans look ahead, the upcoming PSL season 10 is set to commence in March 2025, adjusted for the ICC Champions Trophy schedule. This change sets up an intriguing clash with the Indian Premier League, promising a packed cricketing calendar for fans around the globe.
