Tony Hemming Named Chief Curator by Pakistan Cricket Board

Lahore: In a significant move to enhance its cricketing infrastructure, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Tony Hemming as the new head curator on a two-year contract, effective immediately.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, Hemming, a seasoned curator from Western Australia, is scheduled to arrive in Lahore this Wednesday to begin his duties. With nearly four decades of experience in pitch preparation across various international venues, Hemming’s expertise will be pivotal for Pakistan’s upcoming cricketing engagements.

One of Hemming’s first major tasks will be the preparation of pitches for the forthcoming ICC World Test Championship matches, which include two games against Bangladesh in August and September, followed by three matches against England in October. Additionally, Hemming will play a crucial role in preparing the pitches for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to be hosted by Pakistan from February 19 to March 9, 2025.

Hemming’s extensive background includes working at iconic cricket grounds in Australia, such as Melbourne, Perth, and Tasmania, and his international experience spans roles in Bangladesh, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Notably, he served as the ICC’s Head Curator in Dubai from 2007 to 2017, during which he also oversaw pitch preparations at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, a key venue for Pakistan’s home matches between 2009 and 2019.
