Paris: Pakistan is set to participate in the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France, fielding a team of seven athletes across athletics, swimming, and shooting disciplines. The event, scheduled from July 26 to August 8, 2024, will see these athletes compete on an international stage, representing their nation.
According to Pakistan Olympic Association, the team includes notable athletes such as Mr. Arshad Nadeem, who has qualified in the javelin throw event, and Ms. Kishmala Talat, who will compete in multiple shooting events including the 10m Air Pistol and 25m Pistol. Other members, like Mr. Muhammad Ahmed Durrani and Ms. Jehanara Nabi, have secured their spots through Universality Places in swimming, approved by World Aquatics.
The contingent also comprises a blend of experienced and emerging athletes, supported by a dedicated team of officials and support personnel. Mr. Muhammad Shafiq will lead the team as the Chef de Mission, accompanied by Deputy CDM Mr. Javaid Shamshad Lodhi and other key officials.
Special appointments from the International Olympic Committee certified personnel and the Embassy of Pakistan in France include Dr. Syed Meesaq Hussain Rizvi as Chief Medical Officer and Mr. Kashif Jameel as NOC Olympic Attaché. These appointments underscore the importance of athlete welfare and diplomatic engagement during the games.
Mr. Arshad Nadeem and Ms. Jehanara Nabi are set to be the flag bearers for Pakistan during the opening ceremony, a role that highlights their achievements and status within the team.
