Today is a historic day for the nation as the foundation of the Federal, Democratic and Islamic Constitution of Pakistan was laid on this day in 1973: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Karachi, April 10, 2023 (PPI-OT):Chairman Pakistan People’s Party, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in his address in the National Assembly said that today is a historic day for the nation. On this day in 1973, the foundation of the federal, democratic and Islamic constitution of Pakistan was laid. The people of Pakistan resisted dictators and faced numerous obstacles to emerge as a united nation. The constitution of Pakistan is the chain connecting all the provinces. This constitution should be included in our curriculum so that the coming generations know that the foundation of the constitution was laid on 10th April 1973. This is the day when democracy won and paved the way for the constitutional journey of Pakistan. On the same day, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto united a divided nation under the parliament and gave the country an Islamic and democratic constitution and after that became the voice of the poor people of the country. He was punished by being martyred.

Ironically, the very institutions responsible for the defense of the Constitution were the very ones responsible for this crime I was involved. A dictator was imposed on the nation, who sowed the seeds of extremism and terrorism in the country, the consequences of which the country is still suffering. The dictator also introduced a politics of hatred and revenge that is still contested today. On the same day in 1986, a female fighter had reached Lahore to confront this dictator and stood against him. The whole country stood with this helpless girl. Martyr Ms. Benazir Bhutto lit the torch of democracy and started the journey to restore the 1973 Constitution. He fought for 30 years for the restoration of the 1973 constitution. After dictator Ziaul Haq, another dictator, General Pervez Musharraf, sowed the same seeds of hatred and terrorism. False puppets were created who pretended to be politicians. Even today, those who benefit from trampling democracy and the constitution are gathered under the flag of Tehreek-e-Insaf.

They are still following the undemocratic politics which was started by General Zia and continued by General Musharraf kept In 2006, Shaheed Ms. Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif signed the Charter of Democracy to express their determination to contest the elections according to their respective manifestos and face each other on the same field, namely the elections. He was determined not to allow any third party to benefit from competition between political parties. Anti-democratic forces often take advantage of the rivalry of political parties. Since the Charter of Democracy was signed and it was agreed that political parties would participate in politics and compete with each other, these same undemocratic forces started to create their own agenda. He felt that if the democratic forces were to unite, there would be no place left for them in the political and economic fields of society. Through the restoration of the 1973 constitution, the provinces were not only given their rights but also their identity.

This happened for the first time in the country’s history. In 2013, this country’s history It was the first time that there was a peaceful transfer of power from one elected government to another. It was such a moment in the history of the country’s political struggle that we achieved political stability despite conspiracies. It is a result of political stability that the country also saw economic stability from 2008 to 2013. It was also a time when projects like CPEC brought opportunities to people. As we fought for democracy for 30 years, since then some institutions were conspiring against it. It was unbearable for these institutions to see Pakistan flourish as a democratic country. As a response to our successes, a Frankenstein -esque experiment was imposed on us. A Select Raj was being established in the country which was not only to install a puppet on the Prime Minister’s seat but also to wrap up our achievements of the last ten years.

It was intended to overturn the 1973 Constitution. The constitution that established Bangladesh After that, the nation was united. We failed the ten-year plan in three years, that too on April 10, 2022. For the first time in the country’s history, an elected puppet was sent home not with the help of the judiciary or the establishment, but through a no-confidence motion. We adopted a democratic method of no-confidence motion. We have been tolerating conspiracies for the sake of the country, its institutions and system. However, it is necessary to expose these conspiracies on the Golden Jubilee of the Constitution. The project did not end with the removal of the puppet. Till date there are people in every institution who are against this democratic journey. They are not only against this constitution on ideological level but also opposing this democratic path for their own personal gain. They don’t want unity between us. They still want to usurp the power given to the people by the Constitution and the 18th Amendment and establish ‘one unit’ elected rule.

At the heart of the conspiracy hatched in the last three years The characters are yet to be revealed to the nation. It was a decade-long project and Imran Niazi was not the only character. There were other institutions in the country, like our judiciary, whose history has had judges who have opposed every dictator and written dissenting notes. It was the same judge who refused to hang Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. It was they who refused to salute Musharraf. Just as there have been honourable and courageous judges in our history, unfortunately we have also seen judges who failed to protect the Constitution they pledged to defend and sided with dictators. As the doctrine was being planned for Parliament, a conspiracy was also being hatched in the Supreme Court. While on one hand the prime minister was being asked to stay for ten years, on the other hand some judges were also being extended. The people involved in it are still part of our honourable judiciary. This conspiracy through a motion of no confidence was also thwarted. There is another department called the Institute and it is under the Minister of Defence.

There was also a conspiracy here, where Merritt was to be killed. Someone was also to be imposed on this body for ten years. The plan was to establish a selected Prime Minister, a selected Chief Justice and a selected Chief of Army Staff a selected Marshal. We were wrong to think that a no-confidence motion would end the conspiracy. It continues today. There is a conspiracy to break the constitution. We have to work together to defeat this conspiracy. This game is not being played in our institution i.e. Parliament and another institution has decided to be neutral. Now only the judiciary remains. Chairman Bilawal appealed to the Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan to create a democratic consensus within the institution as the judiciary of Pakistan stands at a crossroads. The court can either be one that defends the constitution of Pakistan and its judges Kur forms a bench for democratic consensus or runs a ‘one-man show’ as Justice Atharmanullah calls it ‘politicians in black’ want to tell us. That 2 plus 2 is 4 not 3. I am sure that the consensus of the Supreme Court of Pakistan will be democratic and will counter any conspiracy, Chairman Bilawal said.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan is trying to convey that the notes of the four judges are of no importance. The people of Pakistan cannot afford this joke which is being played as a big game with the judiciary and constitution of Pakistan. Our finance minister is working day and night to get us out of the financial crisis that the puppet has left us in. We are also starting operations against terrorism. Pakistan People’s Party believes that the way to solve the crises is to establish a consensus and sit at the negotiation table. The same sense of responsibility applies to the honourable judiciary. We cannot solve the democratic crisis if every member of the Supreme Court is not respected. This war is of the elite and has nothing to do with the sufferings of the Pakistani people. The financial burden that the common man is carrying is in front of everyone. Citizens of Pakistan are facing difficulties to get their food. People have lost interest in this institution or the other because it is becoming difficult for them to survive.

It has become difficult for people belonging to every section of the society to make a living. The country needs political stability to deal with various issues and this can only be achieved when the institutions of the country perform their duties within their constitutional framework and not by acting as political wings of anyone. Unity and consensus is the way forward. Even today Pakistan People’s Party is ready to defend the constitution. Chairman Bilawal said that it is hoped that Constitution Day of Pakistan will be celebrated even after 100 years from today. If respect is not given, we cannot solve the democratic crisis.
