The federal government has to fulfill its promises to the flood victims, otherwise it will be difficult for us to have a ministry: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Karachi, March 05, 2023 (PPI-OT): Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the federal government will have to fulfill its promises to the flood victims, otherwise it will be difficult for us to hold a ministry. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, while addressing the ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s House regarding the distribution of aid money for the purchase of seeds among the flood-affected farmers, said that every section is suffering due to the economic crisis, but the agriculture sector. People attached to are suffering more.

He said that while on the one hand, the agricultural sector has suffered a setback due to natural disaster, on the other hand, during the last 10 years, the federal governments had adopted a patronizing attitude towards this sector. He pointed out that before the presidency of President Asif Ali Zardari, Pakistan had to import wheat, rice and sugar, but the PPP government significantly increased the production of these commodities in a short period of one year. Sadly, after the departure of President Zardari, these policies were not maintained.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the Pakistan People’s Party stands with the flood victims and farmers, and this is the reason why Sindh was the first province to fix the support price of wheat at Rs 4,000. He said that small farmers are being helped through Benazir Income Support Program. He said that it is sad to say that the promises made by the federal government to help the flood victims have not been fulfilled yet.

He said that I hope that while the Sindh government has set aside 1.39 billion rupees from its budget to help farmers, the federal government will have to fulfill its promise of giving 4.7 billion rupees. He further said that if the federal government or the prime minister has made any promises regarding the flood victims, then they will have to be fulfilled. The foreign minister said that the federal government should keep the flood victims in its first priority. He said that if the promises to the flood victims are not fulfilled, it will be very difficult for us to have a ministry.

He said that I hope that our complaint will be remedied. The PPP Chairman said that at present media and others are not focusing on the flood victims, but Pakistan People’s Party, its officials and workers should come forward to help the flood victims. He said that the local organizations of Pakistan People’s Party should play the role of facilitator regarding the registration of the flood victims in Benazir Income Support Program.

He said that two programs for the construction of houses for the flood victims and the distribution of aid money in the form of seeds are going on in Sindh. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that we believe that the biggest problem of the people is inflation, unemployment and economic difficulties. He said that every day the battle of GT Road is going on in the media, but the real problem of the people of Pakistan is economic hardship, we will continue to do what we can to solve it.

He said that the economic crisis in Pakistan at this time is historic, the situation with regard to terrorism is also like a crisis and the politics of division in politics and society is also suffering. He further said that the solution to the problems facing Pakistan lies with the Pakistan People’s Party and Bhuttoism.

He said that Pakistan People’s Party is an ideological party, its competition is not with any other party but with inflation, unemployment and poverty. We have always been the solution to people’s problems, we have become the voice of the common man, and our priorities are the common man. He said that the media is not focused on public issues and challenges like terrorism, even if they show it today, they show a political rat, who is hiding under the bed for fear of arrest. He emphasized that the attention of all of us including the people, media and institutions should be directed towards the problems of Pakistan.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, while expressing concerns over the ongoing digital census in the country, said that the Pakistan People’s Party had raised objections on the 2018 census from the beginning. He said that we raised these objections not on the words of our people but on the basis of a survey report conducted by UNDP during that period.

He said that regarding the number of houses in Sindh, there was a very clear difference between the data of the UNDP survey and the 2018 census. He said that there was a difference in such figures in some areas of Balochistan and FATA. We had raised this objection at the time and said that we had accepted the census only on the condition that only 5 percent of the block would be re-censed. He said that Pakistan People’s Party has been raising these concerns continuously.

He said that today when the elections are ahead, it was announced that digital census will be held. He said that Pakistan People’s Party as well as the people have reservations about the feedback we have received regarding this census.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that if the census is to be conducted in the same way, then the Pakistan People’s Party is not acceptable take He clarified that Pakistan People’s Party can support a scientific and real census, but cannot support such a census. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Federal Minister and Chairperson BISP Shazia Atta Marri and Advisor to Chief Minister on Agriculture Manzoor Wassan also spoke on this occasion.
