A book “Education Policies in Pakistan” by renowned educationist and former Vice Chancellor AIOU Dr. Shahid Siddiqui unveiled at University of Education 

Lahore, December 16, 2021 (PPI-OT):The second edition of the book “Education Policies in Pakistan; Politics, Projections, and Practices” by renowned educationist and former Vice Chancellor Allama Iqbal Open University Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui was unveiled at the Township Campus of University of Education, Lahore yesterday.

The Book launching ceremony was organized by University of Education, Lahore and Oxford University Press jointly. The author Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui along with renowned educationist and Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.), Sales Director, North, Oxford University Press, Fayyaz Hussain Raja, Dean, Beachonhouse National University, Prof. Dr. Tariq Rehman, Director Academics, School of Education, LUMS, Dr. Faisal Bari, Director Centre for Governance and Policy, Information Technology University, Dr. Yaqub Bangash and a large number of students attended the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said that Dr. Shahid Siddiqui’s book “Education Policies in Pakistan” is the pulse of the educational situation of the Pakistan, with it we can not only sort out the issues but also solved them. This book covers all aspects of the education system of the country, I think this book will serve as a guide for every teacher and they must study it. Dr. Pasha said that this book attempts to critically study the education policies in Pakistan in a holistic manner.

The rationale for the education policy and its planning process are discussed in detail. It also attempts to understand the processes of planning and implementing education policies through a socio-political context. It covers vision and goals; primary, higher, and technical and vocational education; literacy rates; female education; language; special education; religious education; curricula; and teacher education, he added.

Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui in his address said that the best education system is the foundation on which the building of development and prosperity of any country can be erected. Today we have the examples of developed and civilized countries around the world who made education system as a base of their developments and national achievements. Therefore, every Pakistani, especially the educated class, should realize their responsibility and play their role in achieving this goal. At the end of the ceremony, Director Division of Education, University of Education, Dr. Muhammad Ayaz Khan thanked the participants.

MoU signed between University of Education and Punjab Information Technology Board 

Lahore, December 15, 2021 (PPI-OT):A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the University of Education, Lahore and the Punjab Information Technology Board on December 13, 2021, under which the two institutions will jointly set up a business incubation center at the university. The Punjab Information Technology Board will provide all necessary staff and other technical facilities to the university for this purpose.

In addition, the Board will be responsible for preparing the curriculum for the Trainers and Business Incubation Center, while the University of Education will be responsible for providing other facilities including electricity, water and internet in the Business Incubation Center. The two institutes will also jointly organize seminars and training sessions in this regard from time to time. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) on behalf of the University of Education and Director General e-Governance Sajid Latif on behalf of the Punjab Information Technology Board.

Meanwhile, a function was held at the Township Campus of the University of Education in connection with the National Freelance Training Program, in which students shared their achievements regarding this program. Different projects were also exhibited by the students on the occasion, which was much appreciated by the audience.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said that in line with the government’s vision, the University of Education is providing full support to the youth to become fruitful citizens of the society through National Freelance Training Program. Dr. Shahzada Qaisar, Director Research, University of Education, Sajid Latif, Director General e-Governance, Punjab Information Technology Board, Sabih Zaka, Director Credit and Marketing, Punjab Small Industries Corporation, Sohaib Zafar, Projector Director, Women Resource Center and Incubator, Hammad Khaliq, Joint Director, Incubation Wing, PITB and a large number of students were also present.

University of Education Observed International Day of Persons with Disabilities 

Lahore, December 04, 2021 (PPI-OT):The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was observed at the University of Education, Lahore. On this occasion, the Special Education Department of the University organized an awareness walk and seminar at the Township Campus, which was presided over by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.).

Speaking to the participants, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said that in any civilized society, people with disabilities are given the due respect and attention so that they can live their lives with self-confidence. There are laws regarding the rights of persons with disabilities in the country, but they need to be implemented in true letter and spirit. Dr. Pasha said People with disabilities have no shortage of abilities but due to lack of opportunities they become a burden to the society, family and themselves.

So, people with disabilities should not be considered inferior and be given equal rights and opportunities. The Vice-Chancellor further said that a special department for persons with disabilities has been set up at the University of Education, where highly educated teachers are imparting education and training. We should fulfill our moral and legal responsibilities towards the persons with disabilities to ensure success not only in this world but the hereafter.

At the end of the walk, Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) also inaugurated a lab at the university with the best facilities for the disabled. Many faculty members and students including Director Division of Education, Dr. Ayaz Khan and Chairperson Special Education Department Dr. Shaheen Pasha were present on the occasion.

MoU signed between University of Education and National Curriculum Council

Lahore, November 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between University of Education, Lahore and National Curriculum Council (NCC) Secretariat Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training Government of Pakistan.

According to the signed MoU, both the parties will cooperate with each other regarding the up gradation and reforms of curriculum development. The University of Education will provide its expertise on curriculum development and for this purpose University will host interactive events to deliberate on the ongoing curriculum reforms and will provide concluded feedback.

Dr. Marium Chughtai Director National Curriculum Council (NCC) signed the MoU from Ministry Federal Education and Professional Training Government of Pakistan whereas Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) Vice Chancellor University of Education Lahore signed on behalf of University of Education. Dr Ayaz Muhammad Khan Director DoE signed as witness from University of Education, Lahore.

MoU signed between University of Education and National Textile University, Faisalabad 

Lahore, November 25, 2021 (PPI-OT):A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between University of Education and National Textile University, Faisalabad at UE Township Campus. The MoU sets forth the intentions of both parties for increased collaboration, cooperation and interaction in following domains.

1. Conducting training of faculty and consultancy

2. Conducting collaborative research projects

3. Conducting lectures and organizing symposia

4. Exchange of academic information and materials

5. Promoting other academic cooperation as mutually agreed and promoting collaboration in the field of entrepreneurship

On this occasion, while talking to media the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said that the signed MoU will encourage the collaboration and cooperation of projects involving educationists, scientists, researchers and personnel from the different communities associated with each party. The MoU was signed by the UE Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) and Rector, National Textile University, Faisalabad Prof. Dr. Tanveer Hussain.

3rd one day International Symposium on “World Fisheries Day” observed at University of Education 

Lahore, November 25, 2021 (PPI-OT):The 3rd one day International Symposium on “World Fisheries Day” was observed at University of Education, Township Campus. On this occasion an International Symposium and an awareness walk was also organized. The Symposium was attended by many international and national speakers including Prof. Dr. Zeliha Selamoglu, Prof. Dr. Murat Arslan, Prof. Dr. Shagufta Andleeb, Prof. Dr. H.M. Nasir Iqbal, Dr. M. Younis Laghari, Dr. M. Ayub, Dr. Khalid Pervaiz, Prof. Dr. Noor Khan, Prof. Dr. Atif Yaqub, Dr. Shahzad Naveed Jadoon, Dr. Muhammad Mansha and Dr. Muhammad Mudassar Shahzad.

While welcoming the guests and participants the Vice Chancellor, University of Education, Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I) said there is a lot of potential in aquaculture and if the private sector also invests and participates in it, the best results can be achieved. Through this sector, we can give strong support to our economy. Our farmer is very hardworking, he is ready to learn new things, just need to pay attention to it. Focusing on aquaculture will bring about a time when we will not only be self-sufficient in agricultural commodities but also be able to export them to the world.

The Vice Chancellor said the aim of organizing this Symposium is to gather stakeholders of aquaculture industry, academia, Government officials and international aqua experts to exchange IDEAS about advancing in aquaculture Pakistan chapter keeping in view the global and local food concerns and identify the sustainable growth factors. Aquaculture is a rather recent activity in Pakistan and is still in its infancy; nevertheless there is immense potential for development of the sector.

Dr. Pasha said it also contributes towards food security of the country as it reduces the existing pressure on demand for mutton, beef and poultry. Aquaculture has also received a substantial amount of government investment during recent years and facilities are now in place that can provide the basis for a major future expansion in aquaculture production. The present govt. is doing a lot to help Aqua Culture Industry while taking different steps and we the academicians and researchers should play our due role to help govt. in this noble cause, he added.

While addressing the Symposium, Prof. Dr. Shagufta Andleeb and other speakers said the University of Education deserve the appreciation for organizing such a useful workshop which will be proved a remarkable step towards the development of Aqua Culture. They said 30% area of Pakistan has water which has large reservoir of different types of fishes and other sea food but because of poor infrastructure, lake of technology and management skills we are not getting benefits from this opportunity. They said such type of activities can help to boost our economy at large. At the end, Assistant Professor University of Education, Lahore Dr. Mudassar Shahzad thanked the participants of the Symposium.
