UE Annual “Sports Gala 2022” Concluded at Township Campus 

Lahore, April 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):In the present Era the public health is the main challenge for the nations, sports field is a catalyst to face the challenge, said Shabana Akhtar, Pakistan’s first woman Olympic Athlete at closing ceremony of “Annual Sports Gala 2022” held at University of Education, Lahore Main Campus here on March 31, 2022. The University Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arshad presided over the ceremony. The Sports Gala featured separate competitions between male and female students in cricket, badminton, football, volleyball, tug-of-war, basketball, handball, athletics and table tennis.

Addressing the closing ceremony, the Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arshad said that it is a great pleasure to see the cheerful faces of the students today and this credit goes to the organizers of the event. Addressing the students, the Pro Vice Chancellor said that the importance of sports cannot be denied. Educational institutions are not only a hub of knowledge and research and new innovations, but also strive to hone students’ abilities by promoting healthy activities so that they can become a useful part of the society.

On this occasion, the chief guest congratulated the University and especially the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) on the excellent organization of the Sports Gala. She said that students should focus on improving themselves in all aspects including education, ethics and sports. Discipline and punctuality are essential for success in life and this is the primary purpose of organizing sports competitions among students in educational institutions.

At the end of the ceremony, trophies and prizes were distributed among the winning teams. Dr. Muhammad Omar Saleem, Director Sports of the University, thanked all the participants, including the Pro Vice Chancellor and the chief guest. A cultural festival and a folk music night were also organized during the sports gala, which was much appreciated by the students and the audience.

Annual Sports Gala held at University of Education

Lahore, March 31, 2022 (PPI-OT):The opening ceremony of the Annual Sports Gala 2022 was held at the University of Education, Lahore on March 29, 2022, which was presided over by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.). The inaugural ceremony was held jointly at the University’s Bank Road and Lower Mall Campuses.

Leading National Swimmer Bisma Khan was the chief guest at the ceremony held at Bank Road Campus while International Kabaddi player Shafiq Chishti at Lower Mall Campus. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) along with chief guests formally inaugurated the Annual Sports Gala which will be held from March 28 to April 1, 2022. The Sports Gala will feature separate competitions between male and female students in cricket, badminton, football, volleyball, tug-of-war, basketball, handball, athletics and table tennis.

Addressing the inaugural function, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I) said that extra-curricular activities are as important in educational institutions as curricular activities. Participating in sports along with study has a very beneficial effect on the mental and physical development of the students.

Sports not only provide opportunities for entertainment but through sports we can give our students practical training in discipline which is required in every field of life. The Vice Chancellor urged the students to show full sportsmanship during the competitions. The chief guests on the occasion congratulated the University of Education and its Vice Chancellor for organizing the wonderful sports gala.

At the end of the event, Director Sports, University of Education, Dr. Muhammad Omar Saleem thanked the chief guests and other participant and briefed about the details of the five-day Sports Gala. The teams participating in the opening ceremony also had a beautiful march past on this occasion.

Graduation Ceremony of Second Batch of NFTP at University of Education, Lahore 

Lahore, March 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):The graduation ceremony of the second batch of the students of National Freelance Training Program (NFTP) was held at Township Campus of University of Education, Lahore here on March 28, 2022. The ceremony was chaired by the Vice Chancellor, University of Education, Lahore Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) while the chief guest was Director General E-Governance Punjab Information Technology Board Sajid Latif. On this occasion, certificates were distributed among 179 students who completed their training from Lahore.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said that modern technology has undoubtedly created conveniences for human beings in every field. Today, those countries that have made their citizens aware of the latest technology have a unique position in the world. He said that majority of the population of the our country Pakistan consists of youth and it is very important to introduce them modern technology so that they can not only make their life comfortable but also play their active role in the development of the country.

And with that in mind, the government has launched projects such as the National Freelance Training Program, where young people are being taught technical skills and provided with online employment opportunities. Congratulating the graduating students, the Vice Chancellor said that the National Freelance Training Program is a successful project which should benefit as many young people as possible. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Director General E-Governance Punjab Information Technology Board Sajid Latif said that in the present digital age it is very important for the youth to acquire technical skills as gaining expertise in this field so that they can not only get livelihood but also a valuable foreign exchange for the country.

Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arshad, Registrar Ahmed Islam, Treasurer Qaiser Iqbal, Principals and Directors of Lahore based Campuses/Divisions and Director Students Counselling Centre Dr. Ahsan Bashir besides a large number of students were also present on the occasion.

Inauguration of Women Development Center at University of Education, Lahore 

Lahore, March 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):In collaboration with Women Development Department, Government of Punjab, Women Development Centre was inaugurated at University of Education, Lahore on March 25, 2022. Vice Chancellor University of Education, Lahore Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) presided over the inaugural ceremony while Vice Chancellor Lahore College for Women University Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (T.I.) was the chief guest. Representatives of Women Development Department, Government of Punjab, UE female teachers and students also graced the occasion.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Vice Chancellor University of Education, Lahore, Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said that undoubtedly woman is the basic unit of society without which no society can develop. It is imperative that women be provided with equal opportunities in education and training. He said that half of the total population of the Pakistan consists of women but unfortunately women are still struggling and suffering from innumerable problems in our country. According to various international reports, gender discrimination is a major cause of low economic growth in any country.

Therefore, if we empower our women, a great positive change can be brought in the country. The Vice Chancellor further said that the main objective of establishing Women Development Centre in the University of Education is to enable university female students to be global change makers through its holistic, personal and professional development programs, designed to hone their knowledge, skills and competencies. While addressing the ceremony, the chief guest Vice Chancellor Lahore College for Women, University, Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (T.I.) said that the University of Education, Lahore has fulfilled an important need of the day with the establishment of Women Development Center.

The administration of the university especially the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) deserves congratulations. He said that the development of a woman is not only the development of an individual but also the development of a society. The women of Pakistan have the potential to play their part in tackling the challenges of the day. At the end of the event, Dr. Naeema Qureshi, Focal Person of Women Development Center, University of Education, Lahore, thanked the chief guest and others for attending the event.

Pakistan Day: Declamation Contest and Musical Performance on National Song at UE

Lahore, March 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):University of Education, Lahore hosted a Declamation Contest and Musical Performance on National Song among the students on the occasion of Pakistan Day at Township Campus on March 24, 2022. After the competitions, a prestigious ceremony was organized for the distribution of prizes among the winning students. The ceremony was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, University of Education, Lahore Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.).

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said that March 23 is undoubtedly a proud and enviable day in our national history. This day marks a milestone in our lives. This day was named as Pakistan Day because of a formal resolution for a separate state for Muslims was passed. He said that it should be Pakistan Day and Allama Iqbal should not be mentioned, it is not possible because Allama Iqbal dreamed of Pakistan at a time when Muslim Ummah in India were suffering from disunity and division.

Iqbal made the Ummah realize the establishment of a separate Islamic state. Then a few years after these same thoughts of Iqbal, Quaid-e-Azam came back from England and made them a reality. March 23 laid the groundwork for the establishment of Pakistan, which was in fact the embodiment of Iqbal’s dream.

At the end, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha and Director Students Affairs Dr. Muhammad Umer Saleem distributed prizes and certificates among the winning students. Dr. Muhammad Omar Saleem, Director Student Affairs of the University, thanked the chief guest and other attendees for their presence.

“The Role of Universities in Nation Building” A Special Talk at University of Education

Lahore, March 18, 2022 (PPI-OT): University of Education, Lahore hosted a special talk titled “The Role of Universities in Nation Building” at UE Township Campus on March 18, 2022. The chief guest was renowned motivational speaker and trainer Qasim Ali Shah while Vice Chancellor of Education, Lahore, Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) presided over the program.

 

In his address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said that education and training is of fundamental importance in human civilization and development, because it is education and training that lifted man out of the cave and made it possible to cast a spell on the stars. Education is the guarantor not only of an individual’s civilization and morals but also of economic development and in this context higher education institutions have a greater responsibility than ever to go ahead and play their full role in nation building and development.

 

He said that the University of Education has a privileged position in the education system of the country as its main objective is to emphasize training along with education. While talking on the occasion, the chief guest of the program, renowned motivational speaker and trainer Qasim Ali Shah said that the real purpose of education is training because without training education cannot maintain its effect and consequently it cannot make individual responsible citizen of society. He said that the role of universities is key in this regard. Our universities have to play their active role in nation building and development so that we can emerge on the world map as a civilized and developed nation.

 

In the end, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) thanked the chief guest for coming and presented a special shield by the university. A large number of faculty and staff including Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arshad and organizer of the event Director Research, Dr. Shahzada Qaisar were present on the occasion.
