Lahore, November 03, 2021 (PPI-OT):The University of Management and Technology (UMT) has recorded a notable position in Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asian Rankings 2022 edition among the top 500 out of 650 published universities in the month of November 2021. Overall, UMT has improved its 2021 performance by moving from 501 out of 550 to 451 out of 500 in just one year.

Besides, the total numbers of published institutes in QS Asia Ranking have been increased to 675. This ranking has proved UMT to be the best platform for learning and cutting-edge research. This landmark was accomplished by UMT through engagement and collaboration with organizations, international research networks and good relationships with employers which exposed it to the much-needed international attention.

Furthermore, extensive research contributions, highly cited research papers and proficient academic staff is paving the way for the bright future of UMT in innovation and world class education. Congratulations and best wishes to UMT’s leadership, faculty, staff, and students!

Lahore, November 02, 2021 (PPI-OT):University of Management and Technology is going to organize a welcome dinner for the new participants of Fall 2021. The Freshmen Dinner is a powerful way to build trust, feeling of belonging and connection between participants, faculty, staff and will serve as a break through cultural, social and other barriers, as we share food and stories.

The program agenda includes welcoming of the participants, recitation of the Holy Quran, National anthem, exciting skits and role play by Office of Participant Affairs (OPA) club and societies followed by a scrumptious dinner. University of Management and Technology looks forward to welcoming every new participant to the UMT Family.

Lahore, October 25, 2021 (PPI-OT):University of Management and Technology (UMT) held its 20th Annual Convocation 2021 at UMT Greens. Total 1658 graduates were given degrees in various disciplines on this occasion. According to the details 822 Bachelors, 191 Masters, 608 MS/MPhil and 37 PhD degrees were conferred.

Furthermore 10 Patron’s Gold Medals, 12 Rector’s Silver Medals, 07 Rector’s Academic Excellence Awards Gold Medal, 06 Certificates of Excellence, 06 Research Publication award for MS/MPhil students, 05 Highest Number of Publications (Faculty), 05 Highest Impact Factor Publication (Faculty) were also given away on the occasion of the annual convocation.

Rector UMT Dr. Asif Raza gave a welcome note where he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the students, faculty, parents and the guests of honour for gracing the event. He appreciated the dignified participation and presence of students and their parents at the UMT Convocation and congratulated them on successfully completing their degrees. Addressing the participants of the UMT Convocation, he said that today marks another pinnacle in your life’s journey and is the culmination of a long and tough academic journey. Furthermore, he added that life has provided you with new options, possibilities and opportunities and would lead to great success to serve as the next stepping stone.

He spoke about the various milestones that UMT has achieved over a certain period of time. He also held management and faculty in high esteem for their inclusive leadership traits. He further stated that because of their devotion, determination and dedication UMT has become the nation’s premier institute of higher education. In the last, he advised that graduates must strive to become model professionals and exemplary human beings and must display tolerance in their professional as well as personal interactions.

President UMT/ILM Trust Ibrahim Hasan Murad, congratulated the graduates for achieving a milestone and making their parents and teachers proud. He further expressed that youth are the architects of the future and can lead to a developed and prosperous country. They have the power to change their lives and we at UMT help them fulfill their dreams. We want our graduates to bring the essence of moral and ethical behaviour that embodies Islamic values and leaves a mark on human history.

“Graduates have the power to change their lives and we at UMT help them fulfill their dreams” said President UMT Ibrahim Hasan Murad. Mr. Murad advised the students to live for others and not for themselves. This digital and complex era is filled with possibilities of change and improvement which welcomes everyone who can cultivate humanity with all its manifestation.

The honourable guest Dr. Samar Mubarakmand (N.I, H.I, S.I, FPAS), Pride of Pakistan, Pakistani Nuclear Physicist Chairman, Punjab Mineral Company addressed young graduates and congratulated them on their success and beginning the new chapter in their journey. He appreciated the efforts of UMT towards quality education. Sharing the glimpses from the past, he said that there was a time when the country was dependent and did not have enough resources for its defense. But later on by the grace of Allah Almighty, today Pakistan is a first nuclear state in the Islamic states and seventh in the world.

He commended Ibrahim Hassan Murad for his tremendous contribution, hard work and dedication in taking UMT to the new horizon of success. He also said that Pakistan has been endowed with the best human resource capital and education is the only way to polish it. Chairman ILM Trust/UMT Dr. Ahmed Omar Murad, gave an insight for the young graduates, congratulated them and encouraged them to become responsible citizens of the society.

In his address, he thanked the exceptional faculty and staff who gave the university their best which created a real essence in the next generation of Pakistan. While advising the students that being a citizen of Islamic republic of Pakistan, we must know the consequences of our choices. There is always a right way and wrong way of doing things therefore we must have a sense of accountability before the creator of this universe.

Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan laid the foundation stone of UMT hence rich tribute was also paid to him for his invaluable services in the field of Science and technology and making Pakistan an invincible state on the face of the world, as he has made history by equipping Pakistan with an impregnable security umbrella. 30 seconds of silence was observed in the loving memory and honour of Dr. AQ Khan, and prayers were made to the Almighty for peace for the departed soul. President UMT Ibrahim Hasan Murad also presented a souvenir to Samar Mubarakmand at the end of the ceremony.

Lahore, October 15, 2021 (PPI-OT):We are pleased to inform you that the 20th UMT Convocation is scheduled to be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 09:00 am in the UMT Greens. Graduating students are advised to kindly collect their convocation gowns and invitation cards on October 18, 2021 from 09:30 am to 08:00 pm from room no. 301, SHS building, UMT main campus by bringing their CNIC and registration paid slip along.

Please Note:

1. Participants will receive their gowns with no return

2. Parents / siblings / friends are not allowed

3. Wearing a mask in the university premises is mandatory

4. All graduating participants are expected to attend the Convocation in formal/national dresses

5. Bags/ electronic gadgets / personal belongings are not allowed

Lahore, October 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):University of Management and Technology (UMT) held investiture ceremony in honour of the new Rector Dr. Asif Raza, who took over as 3rd Rector of UMT. Dr. Asif Raza has served Pakistan Air Force and retired as Assistant Chief of Air Staff PAF. During his service, he has overseen various projects of national interests which include Avionics Project JF-17 as its director. He has also served as Pro-Rector in NUST for twelve years. In recognition of his services he was conferred with Hilal-e-Imtiaz (M) and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (M).

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an followed by the national anthem. The occasion was graced by President UMT, Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Director TKS Ms Mariam Murad, DG UMT Abid Sherwani, the outgoing Rector UMT Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Dr. Mujahid Kamran, Mr. Saleem Ata, Head OSSV Major (rtd) Ibrar Hussain, registrar UMT, Deans, Directors and UMT faculty and staff.

President UMT, Mr. Ibrahim Hasan Murad appreciated the hardworking and passionate faculty and staff of UMT. He said that we are carrying forward the vision of Dr. Hassan Murad (Shaheed), which was to create an institution that is based on values and merit. He stated that the vision of UMT is to become one of the top 100 universities in Asia by 2030.

He also paid tribute to the services rendered by Dr. Aslam the outgoing Rector UMT and welcomed Dr. Asif Raza onboard. Concluding his remarks he asked Allah for His guidance and prayed that this transition becomes beneficial for making the university a world class institution.

The outgoing Rector UMT Dr. Muhammad Aslam shared his thoughts while saying that it was a great experience working with a prestigious institution like UMT. He thanked the entire UMT family for their support throughout his journey. He wished great success to Dr. Asif Raza for his new role at UMT.

Rector UMT Dr. Asif Raza, Air vice Marshall (Rtd) addressed the attendees and said that it is a great honour for me to work with such an excellent organization, UMT. He hoped that the entire faculty would support him in promoting quality education. He added that the growth of UMT in the last few years is exemplary. He also suggested regular communication with the Deans, Directors, senior management as well as students will be necessary for further improvements.

He added that we will work to; improve the employability of graduates, strengthen the entrepreneurial and research culture, internationalization, and attracting high quality students. President UMT, Mr. Ibrahim Hasan Murad also presented souvenir to outgoing rector Dr. Muhammad Aslam. Dr. Asif Raza signed the Assumption of Charge Document for the post of Rector-UMT and was presented a memento by the outgoing Rector Dr. Muhammad Aslam.
