Food Relief Camp inaugurated at Sir Syed University 

Karachi, September 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) has set up a flood relief camp at the campus to collect for relief items for the flood victims. Clothes, blankets, water bottles, tents and other relief material may be deposited there. Assistant Commissioner, District East, Abdul Sattar Hakro accompanied by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin and Registrar Syed Sarfraz Ali inaugurated the camp.

A large number of students and faculty members including Dean, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Dr. Muhammad Aamir, Dean Faculty of Computing and Applied Science, Dr. Aqeel ur Rehman, Dean Faculty of Civil and Architecture Dr. Mir Shabbar Ali, Director Sports Mubashir Mukhtar were present on the occasion. Organizer Sr. Lecturer Yasir Zaheen gave a brief summary of the efforts of his team for the collection and distribution of flood relief items.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Commissioner, District East, Abdul Sattar Hakro, said that the heavy rains has caused disasters in the different areas of the province resulting in the collapse of thousands of houses and left countless people homeless. There is no proper planning for drainage of water, nor do we have the system to store.

Expressing grief and sorrow over the widespread devastation, including the loss of precious lives and damage to livestock, and infrastructure, Vice Chancellor SSUET, Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin said that the worst spells of downpour in the country’s history has badly affected the country especially Sindh and Baluchistan.

He appealed to the benefactors the philanthropists to come forward and help the rain and flood affected people. He said that if the provision of aid and rehabilitation process is not timely started, there might be a risk of human tragedy. Registrar Cdre. (r) Engr. Syed Sarfraz Ali, said that SSUET faculty members and students are working hard to collect the essential items for the flood victims. He thanked the Assistant Commissioner for his support.

SSUET Celebrated Pakistan Independence Day with Patriotic Zest 

Karachi, August 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) celebrated Pakistan Independence Day with traditional zeal, and glowing tributes were paid to the stalwarts who sacrificed their lives during the struggle for having an independent homeland for Muslims to live with their distinct identity and complete freedom.

Jawaid Anwar, Chancellor SSUET, along with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin, Cdre. (r) Salim Siddiqui, Engr. Muhammad Arshad Khan, Registrar Cdre. (r) Syed Sarfaraz Ali, Siraj Khilji, Mumtaz Kazmi, Farrukh Nizami, Salim uz Zaman, Mukhtar Naqvi, Masood Alam, Rifat Hussain, Mustafa Saqib, and others hoisted the national flag to mark the Pakistan Independence Day at the university campus. The event concluded with the prayer for national progress and prosperity of the Muslim Ummah.

Addressing the ceremony, Chancellor Jawaid Anwar said, “It is with feelings of greatest happiness and emotion that we are celebrating Pakistan Independence Day with patriotic zest. It marks the fulfilment of the destiny of the Muslim Nation, which made great sacrifices in history to have its homeland. Pakistan is an ideological state and it is our duty as the Muslim Nation to secure our geographical and ideological boundaries.”

Appreciating the role of Quaid in the freedom movement, he said, “Quaid e Azam was a far-sighted great leader. He launched the movement for a separate state for the Muslims of the subcontinent, because he knew that the Hindu extremist would never tolerate Muslim progress in India. However, we must know that it was not so easy to acquire a separate state for us. Getting Pakistan was like crossing a river of fire and blood.”

Chancellor Jawaid Anwar said that we should learn lessons from the actions and character of our national leaders and try to follow in their footsteps. Despite ups and down, only those nations rise who are laced with patriotic feelings and work with consistency.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin said true patriotism would make our country unbeatable in the international world. He paid rich tribute to the founding fathers for their epic struggle for democracy and independence. On this auspicious occasion, Registrar Syed Sarfraz Ali underscored the need for translating the Quaid-e-Azam’s motto of unity, faith, and discipline into reality and working together in raising Pakistan’s stature.

Later on, the President of Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association (AMUOBA) and Chancellor SSUET, Jawaid Anwar, accompanied by General Secretary AMUOBA, Engr. Muhammad Arshad Khan, Vice Chancellor SSUET, Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin, Cdre. (r) Salim Siddiqui, Registrar Cdre. (r) Syed Sarfraz Ali, Siraj Khilji, Mumtaz Kazmi, Farrukh Nizami, Salim uz Zaman, Mukhtar Naqvi, Masood Alam, Rifat Hussain, and Mustafa Saqib visited the mausoleum of the founder of Pakistan, Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to pay homage to the great leader on the occasion of Pakistan Independence Day.

They laid a floral wreath at his tomb and offered Fatiha for the soul of Quaid e Azam. In their remarks penned down in the visitor’s book, they paid glowing tributes to the great leader of the subcontinent, “Jinnah Saheb, achieved something that very few have, he not only got freedom for his people but also in the process created an entirely new nation for them. It is now up to us to ensure his legacy with Faith, Unity, and Discipline.”

Wreaths were also laid on the graves of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Quaid e Millat Liaquat Ali Khan, Begum Rana Liaquat Ali Khan, Former Prime Minister Noorul Ameen, and Sardar Abdul Rab Nashtar.

Talent Hunt Youth Sports League (Hockey) under Prime Minister Youth Program in Sindh will start on August 16 in Karachi 

Karachi, August 06, 2022 (PPI-OT):Higher Education Commission’s Director Sports Javed Ali Memon has said that Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology will host the Hockey Event of Prime Minister’s Youth Programme-Talent Hunt Youth Sports League for Girls and Boys. Director Sports, Sir Syed University, Mubbashir Mukhtar will be the National Coordinator for this event. In this context, Director Sports HEC, Engr. Javed Ali Memon chaired a meeting at Sir Syed Universities with the Director of Sports of different universities and the Director of Physical Education of colleges.

Hockey Olympian Hanif Khan and Convener Sports Sir Syed University, Qazi Nasar specially attended the meeting, besides Basit Ansari and Rashid Qureshi from the University of Karachi, Azmat Pasha of Tabani College, Shaheen Fatima, Rafat Jahan, and Majda Hameed, Junaid Khan of Lasbela University and representatives of 36 universities and colleges also attended the meeting physically while Director Sports of several universities from other cities joined online. Mr. Javed said that the purpose of Prime Minister Talent Hunt Youth Sports League is to promote national sports and to highlight the importance of sport in educational institutions. The trials in Sindh will begin on August 15, 2022.

Javed Ali Memon said that players from 15 up to the age of 25 will be eligible to participate in the trials. There will be 25 different regions of the country where the trials will be conducted so that players from the basic level can be a part of the trials under this plan. After selecting five teams from the province, first, the championship will be held at the provincial level, then the final round will be held in which one team from each province will be part of the final round and the final round will be played on the basis of the single league.

He said that hockey trials will be held at the following places, Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Sukkur in Sindh province. Dera Murad Jamali/Sabi/Torbat, Khuzdar, Othal, Hub, Quetta and Laura Lai in Balochistan province. Federation, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan include Mirpur, Islamabad, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, and Skardu. Similarly, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province includes Bannu, Swat, Peshawar, Hazara, and Mardan, while Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Lahore, and Bahawalpur/Multan will be the places in Punjab.

At the end of the meeting, Registrar Sir Syed University Syed Sarfraz Ali thanked all the guests especially Javed Ali Memon Sahib on behalf of Chancellor Javed Anwar and assured him of full cooperation from Sir Syed University.

Sir Syed University gets Brand of the Year Award 

Karachi, August 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) received the Brand of the Year Award in a ceremony organized by the Brands Foundation. Sir Syed University is the first university who got this prestigious award in recognition of its excellence in academic sector, says a university statement issued on Wednesday. The General Secretary Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association (AMUOBA), Engr. Muhammad Arshad Khan, Dean, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Dr. Muhammad Aamir also attended the event. Registrar Syed Sarfraz Ali received the award on behalf of the university.

Sir Syed University organizes seminar on traffic rules awareness

Karachi, July 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):Centre for Guidance, Career Planning and Placement of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology organized a seminar on “Awareness of Traffic Rules and Regulations”. DIG Traffic Karachi, Ahmed Nawaz Cheema was invited as Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion DIG Traffic Ahmed Nawaz Cheema said that the total approved strength of the traffic police is 10,000 and at present 6,000 traffic police personnel are deployed in the traffic police which is 60% of the total requirement and the traffic police is 40 percent understaffed.

Most of the police force is deployed on duties in the Red Zone, facilitating VIP movement, cricket matches, elections etc. Karachi is the country’s economic and commercial hub and the largest city of Pakistan, where the population is increasing day by day. The number of vehicles registered in the city is also increasing and the city’s infrastructure is changing.

In order to meet the shortage of personnel, Traffic Department is planning to initiate recruitment drive. To create awareness among the people about traffic rules, the department is running a comprehensive campaign in the print and electronic media and organizing seminars in the academic institutions. In addition, digital and social media including FM Radio 88.6 is also being used for this purpose.

DIG Ahmed Nawaz Cheema pointed out that the administration has installed cameras on 16 different places in the city to monitor the flow of traffic and 3.93 million challans were issued in 2021. The police department has got body cameras to record on-spot traffic violation. We are discussing with IT experts and software houses to develop a software to improve the traffic system and to make the issuance of challans against traffic rules violation transparent.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin said that since driving rules are rarely followed in our country, the university is very keen to work with traffic department to address traffic issues in Pakistan by creating awareness among the students about traffic rules and regulation. Heavy traffic load is causing a number of traffic issue. Smooth flow of traffic on the roads has become a challenge despite measures being taken to regulate the traffic.

Registrar Syed Sarfraz Ali said that during recent years traffic accidents claimed more life due to the reckless driving and not following the traffic rules. It is need of the hour to curb the violation of lanes and signals in order to avoid fatal accidents. At the end of seminar, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin along with Registrar Syed Sarfraz Ali and Mr. Siraj Khilji presented souvenir to DIG Traffic, Ahmed Nawaz Cheema.

Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology plans to construct a new block at the campus 

Karachi, June 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology is going to construct a Ground plus 10-floor block. In this regard, a presentation was given to Sardar Yasin Malik at the university campus to highlight the construction and financial details. Registrar Syed Sarfraz Ali gave an elaborate presentation on the construction of the new block at the campus, featuring the developmental journey of the university.

Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Yasin Malik, a Member of the SSUET Board of Governors, said that one should not forget his past, and must remember the old days of poverty. The past is a mirror of your struggle and difficult journey. Today you have more opportunities and facilities available than before. By using modern technology, you can lead your economy towards improvement in which education plays a central role.

He suggested that students should be given scholarships from the very beginning so that they may not be deprived of education due to financial constraints and they may focus on education with full determination and dedication. Sardar Yasin Malik assured the SSUET management that he would extend all possible support in the construction of the building.

Chancellor SSUET, Jawaid Anwar said that Sardar Yasin Malik is a God-fearing person with positive thinking and is fully dedicated to the promotion of education. Many institutions in Karachi are running with his support and funding. His presence has been our source of strength and we hope that his patronage and support will always be with us. The university needs his cooperation in the construction of the new building.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin said that the efforts of Sardar Yasin Malik in the field of education and health are commendable. We always needed his guidance and advice. The construction cost of the new block of Sir Syed University was presented to Sardar Yasin Malik for favourable consideration.
