Sister of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui Concerned Over Her Health After Prison Visit

Karachi, Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui recently met her sister, Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, in FMC Carswell prison in the US, expressing concerns over Aafia’s deteriorating health. The visit, which was hindered by physical barriers, has raised questions about Aafia’s well-being and the conditions of her incarceration.

According to Aafia Movement, the long-awaited meeting between the two sisters was facilitated by the prison administration, but it was conducted with a thick glass wall separating them. Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui shared her frustrations about the meeting’s constraints, noting that despite promises of a social meeting, they were unable to physically embrace or comfort each other.

During the meeting, Dr. Fowzia observed a noticeable decline in Dr. Aafia’s health, describing the emotional encounter where both sisters cried for about half an hour. Dr. Fowzia conveyed messages of good wishes from Pakistani people and supporters worldwide to her sister. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet Dr. Aafia, albeit under restricted conditions, and shared her concerns about Aafia’s worsening state.
