Islamabad: Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) students displayed their cutting-edge technological creations at the Tech Fest-25, hosted by the Faculty of Information Technology and the Business Incubation Centre (BIC). The exhibition, held at SMIU’s I.T. Tower, showcased projects from BS Computer Science, BS Software Engineering, and BS Artificial Intelligence programs.
The projects tackled diverse global challenges, from HealthTech and Medical AI to Smart Systems and IoT. Students also presented solutions in areas like AI and Machine Learning applications, Fintech, Cybersecurity, educational technologies, gaming, and community-focused initiatives. The displayed work highlighted the students’ ability to create practical, real-world applications.
SMIU Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, along with deans, faculty members, and Dr. Mansoor Ahmed Khuhro, Director of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), toured the exhibits, encouraging the student innovators. Dr. Sahrai urged students to leverage the BIC to transform their concepts into businesses and instructed faculty to connect student endeavors with relevant industries.
The Vice Chancellor commended the Tech Fest organizers and stressed the importance of students aligning their work with industry needs. He noted that innovative thinking is crucial for progress and praised Pakistani youth’s advancements in science and technology. Dr. Sahrai highlighted SMIU’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art resources, including computer and AI labs, to support student research.
Industry professionals, including Kashef Uddin, M. Abid Musif Khan, Erum Hanna, Muhammad Hassan, Muhammad Naeem, Syed Wasiq Muhammad, Sheeraz Sattar, and Kamran Ali, evaluated the student projects.
