Senior Program Officer IDRC Canada Highlights University of Sargodha’s Global Research Potential

Sargodha: In a significant step towards fostering international research ties, Dr. Najeti Safini, Senior Program Officer at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Canada, visited the University of Sargodha (UoS) and engaged in productive discussions with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas. Accompanied by Prof. Dr. Zafar Hayat, Director of the One Health Centre, the talks centered on the groundbreaking work being conducted at the university’s One Health Centre and explored potential academic collaborations.

Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas emphasized the university’s dual focus on institutional development and regional progress. He stressed the importance of strengthening global academic connections through joint research initiatives. Highlighting the establishment of the One Health Centre, he noted its mission to provide equitable healthcare across humans, animals, and plants, contributing to a healthier, more sustainable society.

During her visit, Dr. Safini toured various academic and research projects at the university, including the library and the One Health Unit. She interacted with faculty and students, commending the research environment and academic standards. Dr. Safini acknowledged the One Health Centre’s pivotal role in enhancing the university’s international standing and praised the administration’s discipline and visionary approach.

The Vice Chancellor expressed appreciation for Dr. Safini’s visit by presenting her with a commemorative souvenir, symbolizing the university’s commitment to expanding its global research footprint and fostering fruitful collaborations.
