Karachi: The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, in collaboration with the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (Jammu and Kashmir), held a seminar to commemorate the 9th martyrdom anniversary of Burhan Muzaffar Wani. With the theme “The Martyr’s Death is the Life of the Nation,” the event took place at Haseena Moin Hall and featured Sindh’s Minister for Local Government, Saeed Ghani, as the chief guest.
The seminar attracted prominent figures from political and civil society sectors. Attendees included Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Advocate Syed Parvez Shah, Syed Yousuf Naseem, Sardar Umm-e-Kulsoom, MPA Talha Ahmed Khan, Nadeem Awan, Iqbal Kashmiri, Sardar Nazakat, Sardar Sagheer, and Muhammad Arshad Sher Baloch. Bashir Sadozai moderated the event.
In his keynote address, Minister Saeed Ghani described Burhan Wani as “a symbol of valour” and encouraged Pakistani youth to learn from his life. He highlighted the long-standing struggle for Kashmir and criticized India’s recent accusations against Pakistan, praising the Pakistani armed forces for their support of the Kashmiri people.
Ghulam Muhammad Safi emphasized the lasting impact of Wani’s sacrifice, describing it as a guiding light for the movement. He condemned India’s military actions beyond Kashmir and called for unity and strategic awareness.
Syed Yousuf Naseem noted that Wani inspired a generation of Kashmiri youth, stressing that the movement for liberation will persist until Kashmir is free from Indian control. Advocate Syed Parvez Shah recalled Wani’s use of digital platforms to launch a revolution, inspiring young Kashmiris even today.
Sardar Umm-e-Kulsoom expressed hope for the results of sacrifices made and criticized the global community for reducing the Kashmir issue to mere conferences. She highlighted the UN’s recognition of the Kashmiri right to self-determination.
Sardar Nazakat and Iqbal Kashmiri paid tribute to the resilience of the Kashmiri youth, while Sardar Sagheer voiced concerns about the diminishing attention to the Kashmir issue globally.
Nadeem Awan commended Wani’s skillful use of social media and highlighted the commitment of the Kashmiri people. MPA Talha Ahmed Khan quoted Wani’s words, calling for action beyond symbolic gestures and warning of threats posed by Indian Prime Minister Modi.
Muhammad Arshad Sher Baloch concluded the session with a call for unity and reflection on Wani’s martyrdom, emphasizing the enduring connection to Kashmir.
