Lahore: Pakistan’s premier first-class cricket tournament, the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, is scheduled to commence on October 26, with 18 teams competing in the event. The four-day tournament will run until December 19, featuring teams from 16 regions across the nation, culminating in a showcase of top domestic cricket talent.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy will include teams such as Abbottabad Region, AJK Region, and Karachi Region Whites, among others. The Karachi Region Whites, led by Sarfaraz Ahmed, will be defending their title after a decisive 456-run victory over the Faisalabad Region in last year’s final held at the Gaddafi Stadium.
Abdullah Khurram Niazi, Director of Domestic Cricket Operations, emphasized the tournament’s critical role in developing cricket talent within Pakistan. He highlighted the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy as not only a competition but also a vital platform for preparing players for international cricket. Niazi also mentioned the success of the recent Champions One-Day Cup and reiterated the PCB’s commitment to strengthening the domestic cricket structure, ensuring the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy continues to be a cornerstone of this effort.
