Punjab University Seminar Highlights National Efforts Against Corruption

Lahore: Punjab University’s Institute of Social and Cultural Studies (ISCS), in collaboration with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore and the Directorate of Student Affairs, hosted a seminar titled “Uniting the Nation Against Corruption” on Thursday. The event, held in the ISCS auditorium, aimed to educate students on the complexities of corruption in Pakistan and the roles they can play in combating it.

According to University of the Punjab, the seminar featured speeches from several key figures, including ISCS Director Prof Dr. Rubeena Zakar and Additional Director NAB, Attiya Azmat. Prof Zakar opened the seminar by acknowledging NAB Lahore’s initiative in raising awareness among the academic community about corruption. Attiya Azmat provided an in-depth look into the various facets of corruption, discussing its historical context and the overarching goals of NAB to curb such practices.

The event also highlighted the proactive role of student organizations in fostering a culture of integrity within the university. Dr. Muhammad Ali Kalasra, Director of Student Affairs, praised the efforts of the Criminology Student Association and WPHP Society in organizing the event. The seminar concluded with an awareness walk, involving faculty members and students, to symbolize their collective stance against corruption.
