Punjab University Hosts Seminar on Soil Health and Contaminant Management

Lahore, The Institute of Botany at Punjab University recently held an international seminar titled “Exploring the Dynamics of Emerging Inorganic Contaminants through Biochar Amendment,” focusing on innovative strategies to improve soil health. The seminar drew renowned experts from both local and international institutions, including a delegation from the University of Science and Technology of China.

According to University of the Punjab, the event featured discussions led by Prof Dr. Guijian Liu, Dr. Huihui Zhou, and other distinguished scholars who presented their research on the use of biochar in managing soil contaminants. The seminar served as a platform for academic exchange and highlighted the latest developments in environmental science.

The visiting Chinese delegation, which included scholars like Prof Dr. Balal Yousaf and Dr. Yubao Cui, also met with Punjab University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr. Khalid Mahmood. During this meeting, discussions on student exchanges and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities were held, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration and regular seminars to advance scientific and educational ties.
