Punjab Sports Directorate Pledges Enhanced Support for Baseball and Cycling, Eyes Olympic Aspirations

Lahore, In a significant move towards enhancing sports infrastructure and promoting athletics across the board, key figures from the world of Pakistani sports, including baseball and cycling, convened with Pervez Iqbal, Director General of Sports Punjab, for a pivotal meeting. The discussion focused on the provision of facilities for baseball, an Olympic sport showing promising growth in Pakistan, and the planning of upcoming tournaments to further this momentum.

According to Pakistan Federation Baseball, the meeting featured Secretary General Pakistan Federation Baseball and Vice President Baseball Federation of Asia, Syed Fakhar Ali Shah; Chairman Punjab Cycling Association, Moazzam Khan Clair; Secretary Prince Shahzad Butt; Hafiz Shahid; and Coordinator Amjad Nawaz Khan. The assembly underscored the importance of developing a dedicated baseball ground in Punjab and highlighted the broader ambition of fostering all sports disciplines within the region, with a particular emphasis on ensuring a prosperous future for athletes.

In expressions of gratitude towards DG Sports Punjab, Syed Fakhar Ali Shah and Moazzam Khan Clair voiced optimism for the comprehensive development of sports under his guidance. A gesture of goodwill was also extended by presenting a bouquet to Iqbal, symbolizing appreciation for his commitment to sports promotion.

Following the meeting, Syed Fakhar Ali Shah relayed the outcomes to Aisha Irum, Secretary of the Women’s Wing of the Federation and Vice President of the Sindh Baseball Association. He highlighted the proactive stance of DG Sports Punjab in championing the cause of various sports, including baseball and cycling, within Punjab. The strategy entails a collaborative effort with associations to scout talent across the province and elevate them to national and international platforms, indicating a bright trajectory for sports development in the region.
