Punjab Arts Council Hosts Vibrant Celebration for Culture Day

Rawalpindi: The Punjab Arts Council recently organized a series of vibrant events in celebration of Culture Day, highlighting the rich traditions and heritage of the region. The festivities were graced by the presence of Ms. Shazia Rizwan, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Information and Culture Department, who served as the chief guest.

Upon her arrival, Ms. Rizwan was welcomed with a traditional Chunri, while other officials adorned themselves with the customary Punjabi Pagri, symbolizing the cultural significance of the event. Ms. Rizwan emphasized that Punjab Culture Day plays a crucial role in connecting the youth with their cultural roots and preserving local customs and folk arts.

The events included a variety of programs such as folk music, painting competitions, musical events, and regional dances, reflecting the cultural diversity of Punjab. Director of the Arts Council, Sajjad Hussain, remarked on how the day serves as a tribute to the region’s centuries-old traditions and fine arts, aiming to introduce them to the younger generations.

A painting competition was a highlight of the day, judged by Khurram Babri, Nabiha Muzaffar, and Saima Aamir. Rubina Khalid, Shanze Noreen, and Hina Zaman secured the top three positions, each receiving cash prizes and certificates of appreciation.

A Punjabi poetry recital, presided over by Mr. Anjum Saleemi and hosted by Ittifaq Butt, featured a lineup of esteemed poets who contributed to the cultural ambiance of the day. The event also showcased captivating performances by singers Laila Jatti, Rizwan Khan, and Muhammad Arshad, who received widespread acclaim from the audience.

The Punjab Arts Council underscored its commitment to preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of Punjab on national and international platforms through these celebrations.
