Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled a distinguished panel of match officials and commentators for the 2025 season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), set to commence in March at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The announcement includes a mix of seasoned international umpires and a commentary team enriched with cricketing luminaries, underscoring the league’s commitment to high-quality broadcasting and officiating standards.
According to Pakistan Super League, the PSL 10 will feature sixteen umpires, including four from the ICC’s elite panel, and three match referees to oversee the matches. The elite panel umpires, Chris Gaffaney, Richard Illingworth, Michael Gough, and Pakistan’s Ahsan Raza, bring a wealth of international experience to the league, enhancing the quality and fairness of game officiation.
The opening match between defending champions Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United will see the experienced Aleem Dar alongside Michael Gough as on-field umpires, with Tariq Rasheed as the TV umpire. The match referee duties for this inaugural game will be managed by Muhammad Javed.
The commentary for the season promises to be dynamic, featuring a blend of Urdu and English broadcasts. Notably, former Australian captain Michael Clarke will make his debut in the PSL commentary box, joining other prominent figures such as Ramiz Raja, Waqar Younis, and Ian Bishop. The commentary team’s depth is further enhanced by the insights of former Pakistan women’s team captain Sana Mir and the experienced Marina Iqbal.
The PSL has also planned a comprehensive broadcast setup involving 30 HD cameras, including buggy and drone cameras, to capture the cricket action. Enhanced features like a speaker-equipped Spidercam will enable live interviews with players during matches, adding a unique interactive dimension to the viewing experience. The league will also employ the latest DRS technology and introduce improved on-screen graphics and player headshots, ensuring a visually rich broadcast for viewers worldwide.
