Karachi: A professor at Sindh Madressatul Islam University, Dr. Muhammad Malook Rind, has been identified as a defaulter of Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam. This discovery has raised concerns about transparency and compliance within hiring processes at academic institutions.
Dr. Malook Rind, who serves in the Computer Science Department, was found to have breached an agreement with Sindh Agriculture University. The agreement stipulated that after receiving financial support for his PhD from Malaysia, he was required to either work for the university for a minimum of five years or repay the scholarship funds if he chose to leave.
A letter from the registrar of Sindh Agriculture University revealed that Dr. Malook Rind had not fulfilled these obligations before securing a position at Sindh Madressatul Islam University. Furthermore, he had not disclosed his defaulter status during the hiring process.
Sources indicate that Sindh Agriculture University’s registrar has formally notified Sindh Madressatul Islam University about Dr. Malook Rind’s status. In response, the university has initiated an inquiry, though no significant action has yet been reported.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about the integrity of higher education institutions. There is an increasing call for transparent investigations to address such issues, which potentially harm the reputation of academic entities.
