PPP Punjab’s Cheema Criticizes Nawaz Sharif’s Policies on National Assets and Public Servants

Islamabad, Shehzad Ahmed Cheema, Secretary of Information for the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Punjab, has criticized former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, accusing him of having two main agendas: auctioning national assets and dismissing government employees. This statement was made in response to Maryam Aurangzeb’s remarks and as part of the PPP’s effort to inform the people of Punjab about what they perceive as the true nature of Sharif’s policies.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Cheema emphasized that the political landscape in Punjab is changing, with Nawaz Sharif’s influence waning in the region. He suggested that the arrival of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Lahore is causing discomfort to Maryam Nawaz and others aligned with Nawaz Sharif. Cheema accused Sharif of planning a vendetta against those who have opposed him.

Specifically, Cheema alleged that Nawaz Sharif’s intentions include the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and the dismissal of public servants as part of his broader strategy. He criticized Sharif’s approach to development, arguing that constructing a few roads in Lahore does not equate to the overall development of the city.

These accusations from a key PPP leader in Punjab highlight ongoing political rivalries in Pakistan and differing views on economic and development policies. The PPP’s outreach in Punjab and its criticism of Nawaz Sharif’s policies are part of the party’s broader strategy to challenge the political status quo in the region.
