Islamabad: The Central Secretary Information of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Nadeem Afzal Chan, alongside the In-charge of Peoples Labour Bureau Pakistan, Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed, emphasized the need for a collaborative approach to address pressing issues such as terrorism and water management. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, they underscored the importance of involving all political parties in these discussions.
Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed highlighted the PPP’s commitment to the public interest, stating that the party prioritizes resolving issues over political point-scoring. He questioned the feasibility of new canal projects amid existing water shortages and expressed solidarity with farmers facing these challenges. Manzoor reiterated the PPP’s alignment with democratic processes rather than governmental agendas, focusing on safeguarding citizens’ rights.
Nadeem Afzal Chan addressed criticism from the Punjab government’s information minister, asserting that the PML-N does not singularly represent Punjab. He critiqued the party’s handling of public assets and affirmed the PPP’s readiness to engage in dialogue on water and political issues. Chan clarified that the PPP’s coalition efforts are aimed at strengthening the parliamentary system and not limited to alliances with specific parties.
Both leaders questioned the lack of approval for canal projects by the President and the absence of a Council of Common Interests meeting. They highlighted the ongoing water shortages, citing official documents, and stressed the potential impact on agriculture and food security. The PPP’s stance, they noted, remains firmly supportive of farmers in addressing these critical concerns.
