Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Calls for Swift Action Amid Gilgit-Baltistan Rains

KARACHI: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has expressed deep concern over the impact of ongoing rains in Gilgit-Baltistan, emphasizing the urgent need for immediate relief and rehabilitation measures.

A press release from the Media Cell Bilawal House stated that Bhutto Zardari highlighted the damage caused to properties by rains and landslides in the region. He urged both the federal and Gilgit-Baltistan governments to take swift action to assist those affected.

He called for the restoration of essential services, including internet, mobile networks, and electricity, particularly in the districts of Ghizer and Ghanche. Additionally, he stressed the importance of reopening roads that have been blocked by landslides.

Bhutto Zardari noted that Gilgit-Baltistan is experiencing unpredictable weather patterns due to climate change. He pointed out that the rapid melting of glaciers and the bursting of glacial lakes are significant threats to local communities, while the southern parts of Pakistan face severe drought conditions.

He urged the government to act promptly and within strict timelines to mitigate further losses and alleviate the suffering of the affected populations.
