Peshawar, Peshawar Zalmi, a prominent team in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), has raised concerns regarding the scheduling of the PSL 2024 matches. The team’s management expressed disappointment over the allocation of their matches, citing a lack of inclusion in the scheduling process and an unfavorable distribution of match venues.

According to Pakistan Super League, Peshawar Zalmi’s management issued a statement highlighting their dissatisfaction with only four matches scheduled in Rawalpindi and one in Karachi. They had proposed a different distribution, requesting five matches in Rawalpindi and three in Karachi, considering the proximity of Peshawar to Rawalpindi and the significant presence of their fans in Karachi.

The management pointed out that the decision-making process for the PSL 9 schedule did not involve their input and lacked transparency. This exclusion has led to concerns not only among the team management but also among Peshawar Zalmi’s fans and the commercial and marketing departments of the team.

In response to the announced schedule, Peshawar Zalmi’s management visited the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) headquarters to voice their concerns. They requested a reduction in the number of matches scheduled in Lahore and a redistribution favoring more games in Rawalpindi and Karachi.

The team also warned that the continued protest and demand for a change in the venue schedule would persist throughout PSL 9. They emphasized that failure to address these concerns could lead to increased disappointment among the team’s supporters and additional challenges for the management.

The PSL 2024, set to commence on February 17, 2024, will feature matches across four cities: Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, and Karachi. The tournament’s final is scheduled for March 18, 2024, at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi. Peshawar Zalmi’s stance poses a challenge for the PSL management as they navigate the complexities of scheduling and team satisfaction.
