PCB Refutes Sana Mir’s Claims on Women’s Cricket Schedule

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has addressed a recent social media post by former women’s cricketer Sana Mir, stating that her comments were factually inaccurate. The Board urged Mir to verify information before publicizing her views.

A PCB Women’s Wing official clarified that the National Women’s One-Day Tournament, featured in the 2025-26 domestic calendar, marks the start of a new season for Pakistani women cricketers. The preceding one-day cycle concludes with the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, to be held in India and Sri Lanka.

Responding to Mir’s remarks about a “hasty” tournament schedule, the PCB reaffirmed its dedication to the physical and mental well-being of players. From July 7 to November 2, 2025, the national women’s team will engage in a program that includes training camps, series, and the World Cup campaign.

Contrary to Mir’s claim that the domestic tournament overlaps with the World Cup, the PCB clarified that the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup is scheduled for September 30 to November 2, 2025. The National Women’s One-Day Tournament will be held in Karachi from November 10 to 23, 2025, starting well after the World Cup concludes.

In preparation for the World Cup, the PCB has initiated a 25-day fitness and skills camp in Karachi, highlighted by 50-over practice matches. The focus will shift to ODI cricket when the squad returns from Ireland on August 12 after a T20I series, followed by preparations for the South Africa ODI series beginning August 25 in Lahore.

Between August 25 and September 28, the ODI squad will train intensively and participate in three home ODIs, along with warm-up matches in Colombo, to hone their skills for the World Cup.

Notably, Pakistan’s women’s team remained unbeaten during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in April and participated in the National Women’s T20 Tournament in May.
