Faisalabad: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has successfully secured commercial naming rights for three of the five teams participating in the upcoming Champions Cup, marking a significant development in the tournament’s branding and partnership efforts.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, Nurpur has acquired the naming rights for the Lions, now rebranded as the Nurpur Lions. Allied Bank has taken on the Stallions, which will be known as the Allied Bank Stallions, and the University of Management and Technology (UMT) has partnered with the Wolves, renaming them the UMT Markhors. The PCB is still in discussions with potential sponsors for the remaining two teams, the Dolphins and the Panthers, with announcements expected soon.
Additionally, the PCB has detailed its media partnership arrangements, which include collaborations with five prominent media outlets. ARY will serve as the media partner for the Stallions, Dunya News for the Panthers, GEO News for the Dolphins, HUM News for the Markhors, and Samaa TV for the Lions. These partnerships are part of a broader strategy to enhance the visibility and engagement of the Champions Cup.
The broadcast coverage for the Champions One-Day Cup, scheduled from September 12 to 29, will be extensive. Local sports channels including PTV Sports, A Sports HD, and GEO Super will provide live feeds, with additional live-streaming options available through Tamasha, Tapmad, and myco in Pakistan. North American audiences can catch the matches on Willow TV.
The commentary team for the tournament includes Ali Younis, Marina Iqbal, Salman Butt, Shah Faisal, and Sikandar Bakht, with Meesha Imran as the presenter. This lineup is part of the PCB’s efforts to provide comprehensive and engaging coverage for cricket fans.
The PCB also released details about the player support personnel for each team, showcasing a mix of experienced mentors, coaches, and support staff to ensure optimal performance and development of the players during the tournament.
