Pasban Party Demands British Disclosure on Surahiya Badshah’s Burial and Recognition of His Legacy

Karachi, The Pasban Democratic Party has urged the British government to disclose the final resting place of Surahiya Badshah, a noted figure in the Indian Independence War. The Party calls for the incorporation of Surahia Badshah’s struggle and other national heroes into the Pakistani educational curriculum and proposes March 20 as a public holiday to honor his martyrdom.

According to Pasban Democratic Party, Chairman Altaf Shakoor emphasized the significance of acknowledging the history of Pakistan’s genuine heroes. He highlighted the need for educating the current generation about figures like Surahia Badshah and incorporating their historical contributions into the educational system. Additionally, the demand extends to recognizing March 20 as a holiday to commemorate the sacrifice of Surahia Badshah, executed by the British government in 1943. The statement also calls for re-evaluating the cases of historical figures and draws parallels with the reconsideration of Altaf Shakur Bhutto’s case, suggesting a similar judicial review for Surahia Badshah and Peer Pagara.

The Sindh Assembly’s rejection of the British-imposed Horr Act and its tribute to the independence war heroes were also noted. The Pasban Democratic Party’s statement accentuates the ongoing struggle to honor and remember the contributions of Sindh’s Hur Mujahideen, led by Pir Saheb Pagara, until the end of British rule. The narrative condemns past governmental attempts to distort this crucial chapter of history and calls for a truthful representation of Surahiya Badshah’s legacy.
