Pasban Democratic Party Launches Campaign Against Hereditary Politics in Pakistan

Karachi: The Pasban Democratic Party has announced the launch of a new campaign aimed at challenging hereditary politics and promoting meritocracy in Pakistan. Altaf Shakur, the party’s chairman, addressed the “Azm Nao meeting” attended by party officials and workers, emphasizing the need for political reform and public engagement.

According to Pasban Democratic Party, the campaign seeks to address the disconnect between the populace and political elites, criticizing the “high walls” that separate rulers from the people. Shakur argued that the country’s progress hinges on merit and that the entrenchment of hereditary politics must be confronted. The party is positioning itself as an alternative to traditional political parties, which Shakur claims are preoccupied with internal struggles and power dynamics rather than addressing public concerns.

Shakur further highlighted the pervasive issues of corruption and nepotism within existing political parties, describing Pasban as a “loot-free” entity committed to representing ordinary Pakistanis. The campaign includes a digital membership initiative aimed at reaching every area and household in Karachi and across the country, encouraging citizens to voice their discontent and advocate for change.

The meeting at the Pasban Secretariat in Mikasa, Hassan Square, was attended by various party leaders, including Vice Chairman Azam Minhas and other prominent members, who echoed support for the campaign’s objectives. The party hopes to galvanize public support by engaging communities through grassroots efforts, positioning itself as a platform for addressing the issues faced by the average Pakistani.
