17th Aalmi Urdu Conference 2024 to Celebrate Karachi’s Cultural Heritage

Karachi: Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, organized a press conference at Haseena Moin Hall to announce the 17th Aalmi Urdu Conference 2024, which will celebrate “Jashan-e-Karachi” from December 5 to December 8, 2024. The event, featuring over 60 sessions, aims to highlight the city’s rich cultural history and linguistic diversity.

According to Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, the conference will commence at the YMCA Ground and include a cake-cutting ceremony to mark the 70th anniversary of the council. President Muhammad Ahmed Shah, speaking at the event, emphasized the cultural significance of the conference, which unites diverse linguistic communities and honors the contributions of literary figures. He highlighted the role of Urdu in global cultural discourse and the council’s efforts to promote the language despite challenges. Shah also extended invitations to Indian writers, underscoring the shared cultural ties between India and Pakistan.

Renowned humorist Anwar Maqsood and poet Iftikhar Arif praised the initiative, noting the importance of art and culture in fostering a civilized society. The conference will feature discussions on Karachi’s history, art, and prominent personalities, with over 10,000 young participants registered. The event promises to address contemporary cultural issues and celebrate the city’s artistic legacy.
