Karachi, The Pakistan U19 cricket team is gearing up for the upcoming World Cup with a pre-departure training camp starting tomorrow at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The intensive training camp, running from December 29 to January 6, is the final preparation phase before the team’s departure to Johannesburg, South Africa.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the camp will encompass various training sessions and activities at the NCA and Gaddafi Stadium. The camp’s schedule includes training from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm on December 29 and 30, with the PCB providing media with videos and photos of these sessions. From December 31 to January 3, the players will undergo batting and bowling sessions at the NCA and fielding sessions at Gaddafi Stadium during the same time slot. Media coverage will be facilitated for both types of sessions.
A highlight of the camp will be a scenario-based practice match scheduled for January 4 at the Gaddafi Stadium from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Following the match, squad members will be available for media interaction, offering a unique opportunity for coverage. January 5 is designated as a rest day before the team’s departure to South Africa on January 6.
The PCB also announced that a media mixed zone activity involving four players will take place at the Gaddafi Stadium, with the exact date and time to be confirmed later.
The U19 squad, led by captain and wicketkeeper Saad Baig and vice-captain Ali Asfand, includes players like Ali Raza, Ahmad Hassan, Amir Hassan, Arafat Minhas, Azan Awais, Haroon Arshad, Khubaib Khalil, Mohammad Zeeshan, Naveed Ahmed Khan, Shahzaib Khan, Shamyl Hussain, Muhammad Riazullah, and Ubaid Shah.
This pre-departure camp is a critical step in the team’s preparation for the World Cup, reflecting PCB’s commitment to nurturing young talent and enhancing Pakistan’s cricketing prowess on the international stage.
