Pakistan Set to Host South Africa for Opening ICC Test Series

Lahore: Pakistan is poised to commence its ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 campaign, hosting South Africa in a two-match Test series starting October 12. The series will mark South Africa’s first Test visit to Pakistan since 2021 and will kick off at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, newly renovated earlier this year.

The second Test will be held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from October 20 to 24. Following the Test matches, the teams will engage in a three-match T20I series, starting October 28 in Rawalpindi, with subsequent games in Lahore.

The tour will conclude with three ODIs at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium from November 4. This marks the first ODI series at the venue in 17 years, a significant revival for the stadium.

Sumair Ahmed Syed, the Chief Operating Officer of the Pakistan Cricket Board, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming series. Hosting the current Test champions, South Africa, is anticipated to deliver competitive cricket. Syed highlighted the significance of bringing back ODI cricket to Faisalabad, a venue with historical importance in Pakistan’s cricket landscape.

The tour schedule spans from mid-October to early November, promising intense cricketing action across different formats, showcasing Pakistan’s cricketing capabilities on home soil.
