Pakistan People’s Party will never transgress the constitution; however, it cannot be given orders to weaken the parliament: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Karachi, April 26, 2023 (PPI-OT):Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party, while addressing the National Assembly on Wednesday, said that the condition of 90 days and in some cases 60 days in the constitution related to elections was not violated by us but by someone else. of It started with the resignation of PTI MLAs. Because the same 60 days’ deadline applies to these seats. Municipal elections are also conducted according to the constitution and law. Local body elections were not held during the PTI era despite court orders. Even in the minority decision of the court, the 90-day limit is not being applied to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

This limit has been increased for KP elections. I want to make it clear that Pakistan People’s Party will never violate the Constitution. However, it cannot be that orders are given to weaken the Parliament. If our honourable judiciary faces difficulties while interpreting the constitution People’s Party as a political party which not only drafted the 1973 constitution but also restored it. If our Judiciary is finding it difficult to interpret the Constitution, PPP as a political party which not only gave the 1973 Constitution but also restored the Constitution to its original status through the Eighteenth Amendment can help the Supreme Court. are ready for We made the constitution so that every institution including Parliament which is the mother of all institutions is respected.

Parliament is currently being mocked and disrespected. Our Law Minister and the Attorney General were today explaining the judgment of the Hon’ble Judiciary and I was shocked to learn that an institution which is responsible for protecting the Constitution has indicated that Parliament should be ignored in money bills and other matters. Giving. We have not abrogated the constitution in the past and will not do so in the future. This is not only against our democracy and constitution but also against the basic principles of the whole world Is. Parliament is the custodian of national opinion. We will decide where and how public money will be spent. It is solely the agency’s discretion to decide where to spend the money and we are not responsible for following anyone else’s instructions. The People’s Party stood with Parliament yesterday and will continue to stand in the future.

The executive is bound to follow the orders of the National Assembly. If the judiciary is mocking and undermining this House [National Assembly], if it is insisting that we are taking an unconstitutional step, then in the eyes of the PPP, this is an insult to the Parliament. This is a violation of privilege. How can anybody take it upon itself to order us to abrogate the constitution and disobey Parliament? Chairman Bilawal Bhutto said that the Speaker will not be able to write a letter to the Chief Justice and other judges. The privilege of the House is being violated. Privilege to this offensive order of the judiciary should be raised in committee. The real concept of democracy is that the Prime Minister is accountable to us, the elected representatives.

When the Prime Minister is ridiculed, this House is also ridiculed. We have endured this for a long time. How many Prime Ministers will be hanged or face blasphemy charges? It is up to us not to let any future prime minister become weak. We respect judges, and we deserve the same treatment. It is absolutely unacceptable that a judge plays with the future of the country according to the dictation received through secret calls. When we passed the resolution in the National Assembly, we were reiterating our confidence in the Prime Minister. Whether it is a vote of confidence in the Prime Minister or the Money Bill, we stand by the 4-3 majority decision. If there is a lack of confidence, it is on the three judges.

If we look at the present situation in the light of Article 63, it appears that the matter is somewhat and there is We can see that this confusion only threatens our people, democracy and the federation. Is this a situation where an attempt is being made to re-impose the One Unit Policy through the back door? It is not only my personal opinion that the insistence with which elections are being tried in only one province will put our federation in jeopardy.

The position of all the political parties minus one (PTI) is that the elections should be held on the same day throughout the country. If people are stuck on political dialogue in the judiciary ‘panchayat’, it is less likely to succeed even if we convince our allies. Heads of all institutions must consider whether they want to be remembered in the future as members of the Tiger Force or as neutrals. If they want to remain neutral in history, they must negotiate among themselves and build a consensus.
